Feedback: Per-Playlist Shuffle Persistence across devices

I experience this annoying issue where I am always enabling shuffle every time I fire up the Deezer desktop app. The Android app seems to handle it better, though I should verify since I generally have no issue there. On Android Auto I am constantly turning it on all the time. This is just as annoying as the desktop app.

Deezer needs to add a shuffle setting per playlist at a bare minimum. Users should be able to save whether they want a playlist shuffled based on their last toggled state. I am not referring to preserving the last shuffle order. This should be extremely simple to implement. It would be a matter of altering the table where the USERID and PLAYLISTID are stored and adding one extra column for shuffle bit state, either 1 or 0 for on or off. This would carry across all devices. I say it sounds simple, but I know how some database schemas get over-engineered.

This is an area where the streaming landscape remains unclear. Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal all lack documentation if their toggle setting is a server side setting that persists across the playlists on any device used.

Deezer has an opportunity to lead here by implementing this feature with full cross-device sync. No competitor has publicly claimed to solve this completely. In a saturated market where audio quality differences and catalogs overlap significantly, UX refinements like this become meaningful differentiators that retain power users managing large libraries.

This change delivers immediate quality of life gains:

1. Less friction: Users stop fighting the interface every session.
2. Contextual listening: Workout playlists stay shuffled, ambient mixes stay ordered.
3. Cross-device consistency: Desktop, mobile, car, and smart speakers behave the same.
4. Reduced cognitive load: No need to remember what state each playlist was in.

Competitors treat playback preferences as first-class persistent settings. Deezer not remembering shuffle settings feels behind the times in 2026. This is a low-effort, high-impact improvement that demonstrates Deezer cares about daily usage patterns, and values user experience.

I also would like to see some kind of less repeats in shuffle as well I know there are differences of opinion here based off what i read and users feel it is not randomized enough or not at all.
