Dark/Night Mode

No offense, but what good is a suggestions forum when nothing that's suggested ever gets implemented?

Take this thread for example. A simple dark theme is not something that should take years to implement. It's a basic color change. Let's not kid ourselves.

People keep posting suggestions for the most basic, absolute no-brainer features that should've been in right from the start, and community managers will invariably reply with 'Thank you! your feedback has been passed on to the developers!', but nothing ever happens, does it? If even changing a background color is this complex, then what does that say about this mythical development team? Can we expect features that are more complex than changing a simple color value to take decades to be implemented, if at all?

Please add the possibility to use the Dark Theme system setting.
White is outdated these days.

I appreciate your concerns. But I spoke to the team in charge of this and I understand why it's actually not that simple. Instead of filling this post with useless jargon I can tell you that Deezer is actively working on this feature.
And I've already seen several other features implemented this year - just have a look here in the ideas forum and you'll see.
In the meantime, Dark mode doesn't need more votes and once I get a timeframe, I'll post it here 😉

Try the useless jargon. I'd much prefer that over just going 'it's not that simple'. It seems to me that changing a background and font color or two should not be a programming endeavor that takes years to complete.

Heck, they found time to somewhat annoyingly make the background change to one of several colors to sort of match the current song's album art on the app, but they can't make it so you can just switch to a single darker color?

Now, I'm honestly not trying to be mean here, but it's hard to wrap my head around this oft-requested feature being such an issue when any regular Joe's free website can implement it just fine. I can imagine wanting to make complimenting color schemes and wanting the scripts to not interfere with anything, but is that really something that should take this long to complete?

Hi. I'm a UI developer for websites and apps. I also came here because I was finding out if I should move my Spotify family plan over to Deezer, but it looks like I shouldn't. It's only hard to introduce a dark mode when your codebase has tons of technical debt and you dont want to introduce more, or you have something better to work on. Deezer should have the resources for a single dude to work on a single task to get this out the door. Don't BS your community and tell them to stop requesting a feature if it appears that it keeps getting put on the backburner.

Spotify isn't a great company either. They don't listen to their customers, and have made several UI changes I'd disagree with. But atleast they wont burn my eyeballs off with the UI and apparently theyre better at implementing change requests than Deezer from what im seeing lol...

I'll wait on switching until you guys can introduce more features that make me want to switch. And youll make a way more convincing case to me if the dev team went about implementing features in a way where extremely popular feature requests arent left open for 3 years and the onus is put on your userbase to figure out a solution.

edit: while im making my single soapbox post here I would also like to point out that you guys offer a service spotify doesnt -- HiFi streaming. If you guys supported family accounts where the owner of the package plan can Opt in to HiFi streaming, I would switch way sooner. I am sure I am not the only user requesting this though, so please add this feature sooner than later. Ty

Is there a way to change the theme of Deezer web version's left side pannel to black, as it was before? It suddenly changed to white today and I don't see any way to change that.
