Control from Other Devices

  • Peter Flinn

Just moved my family off Spotify and all on to Deezer. I’m enjoying it so far, but I just noticed a surprising missing feature.

On Spotify I could change the track playing on one device by trying to play a track on another device. Something like this seems that existed for a while called “Deezer Connect”, though that’s been discontinued.

I understand it’s not something everyone finds important, but it was very useful for me. Any chance something like this would be coming back? If there’s an API, I’m happy to try and knock a third-party thing up myself.

@afrazkhan

deezer connect did not function the way Spotify connect does, so bringing that back would not solve your issue. Some other streamers have implemented varying versions of “connect” type functions, with correspondingly different levels of success.

every service has its tradeoffs and all of us must find what works for us. deezer’s overall package is my personal favorite, despite not having this particular feature.

maybe give it a try and see how you like it.

cheers.

@GropplerZorn, I like it fine and it’s not a deal breaker by any means. I’m already working on workarounds.

It seems like a fairly trivial feature to implement. If their API exposed the control methods I’d be happy to do it myself, but you can only get info :/
