Add 30-Second Skip Forward/Backward for Podcasts (Lock Screen, Widget, & Earbud Controls)

Related products:AndroidPodcasts

I’m switching from Spotify that has this and it’s so handy.
Right now, to rewind or fast-forward by 30-sec increments you have to open the app. It would great to be able to do it when my phone’s locked (Pixel 8 user here), or through the Android widget on my home screen, or using the controls on my Jabra Elite 8 earbuds.

Same here.

I listen to a lot of podcasts when I’m on my bike and its very annoying not being able to advance 30s by tapping my earbuds

Same. I just started using the app for podcasts and theres no way to do the 30-second skip on Android auto either

This is such an oversight that this is not the default behavior.

i ended up using a different app for podcasts. There are so many free podcast apps. I get why Deezer doesn’t invest in making the podcast UX better. But honestly they should just stop serving podcasts altogether

Why do you get it why Deezer doesn‘t invest in making the  podcast UX better?

Because honestly, I don’t personally get it. Yes, there are a ton of apps that just do podcasts and can focus their entire time on that UX, but there are many small wins Deezer could provide which then increases user retention (and that’s all apps today want isn’t it?).

Further, in the age of AI in software development I, as a software dev, don’t think it should take too long to implement such (relatively small) features.

I'm entirely with you that the effort doesn't seem that big especially with AI. But it isn't completely down to zero to build (and maintain) a good podcast UX starting virtually from scratch.

So I guess that Deezer made their calculations and decided that the effort isn't worth it : they think that not that many people will leave Deezer because of the lack of podcasts. Especially because many free alternatives exist.
