Artists with the same name often have mixed discographies on streaming platforms due to the way song data is entered and processed.

The main reasons for this phenomenon include:

Lack of unique identifiers:
When labels or distributors submit new music, the platform’s systems rely on metadata (artist name, song title). If unique identifiers such as ISRC codes (International Standard Recording Code) are missing, the algorithm automatically groups songs by artist name alone.

Distributor errors:
Distributors submit hundreds of thousands of songs every week. Sometimes, when entering the catalog, they mistakenly tag an artist who has the same name as someone else.

Unverified profiles:
If an artist has not downloaded and verified their official profile (e.g. through the Deezer for Creators system), the platform has no way to automatically distinguish between two different people sharing the same name.

How can you fix this?
Since these errors occur automatically, the algorithm cannot always correct them on its own. Manual intervention is usually required.

You can report a problem and request a profile unlink:

Open the wrong song or album in the app.
Click on the three dots (menu) and select the "Report a problem" option.
Specify which albums or songs do not belong to that artist and submit a request.
