Why is Deezer adjusting the volume while I drive?

I recently noticed that Deezer adjusts the volume when I am driving when it previously didn’t do that. Firstly, I always select all the privacy focused options when possible, location is turned off, and I’m not using any in car connected audio device. I’m just playing music from my phone. I do realize my iphone is a disrespecting privacy intrusive device which does not respect my non consenting requests. This volume feature only comes from my Deezer app, no other audio apps change the volume as I drive.

How does Deezer know I’m moving if location is off? Why does the volume drop when I stop & bump up when I begin moving? Clearly my device is tracking the speed of motion in which I am moving.

The volume normalizing feature doesn’t respond whether its off or on. I find this feature not only intrusive but frankly disrespectful to my choices.

I'm not sure if this happened to me too, but from now on I will try to pay attention to it myself.

@PMTours Does this happens connected to Android Auto or Carplay?
Thanks

I’m experiencing the same thing, and it’s concerning from a privacy perspective. My location services are disabled, I’m not using any connected in-car audio system, and other music apps don’t change their volume based on whether I’m moving or stopped.

What I’d like to understand is: what specific sensor or permission is Deezer using to detect that the phone is moving? If location is turned off, that doesn’t necessarily mean the device has no access to motion sensors, but users should be clearly informed when an app is using that data and for what purpose.

What makes this particularly frustrating is that the volume-normalization setting doesn’t seem to affect this behavior. If Deezer has introduced automatic volume adjustments based on detected movement, there should be a clear setting to disable it completely.

Privacy-conscious users should be able to make an informed choice about whether their device’s motion data is being used. Transparency and a genuine opt-out would be appreciated.
