Why I'm leaving - Feedback

So I wanted to like Deezer, but I can’t get myself to like the experience, here’s why. Hopefully this can be used to address these issues and improve the app. I state these not factually, but rather from my own perspective:

  • First and foremost, the process of getting to my music is not good at all.  It first opens up to songs I hate and are in no way related to any of my tastes. I accidentally added one to a playlist of mine also, and I was beginning to loathe the artist because this annoying song would always start to play (seemingly randomly until I realized somehow it was in my playlist).
  • The app (either desktop or mobile) doesn’t seem to remember a few settings I end up having to turn on most times I open it (shuffle, for instance).
  • Curating playlists requires one too many clicks (no drag & drop?).
  • Likewise, getting to the music I want also requires more clicks than it should. Have to open playlists, then find the one I want to listen to, whereas there could be a collapsable list on the left bar with all my playlists so I could play whichever one faster.
  • I also cannot set a custom order for my lists without renaming them (which would be great combined with the left bar option).
  • The TV app doesn’t work at all (at least not with either of my Samsung smart tvs), it can’t even connect, and it’s not a problem with my tv, there are countless Samsung owners (as well as other brands) who have posted about this.

Overall I think Deezer should really invest some human resources into working on better UX, honestly if the API had entry points for controlling music (play, pause, next, etc) I would’ve probably written my own client because in my opinion unfortunately the UX is really sub par.

Oh it’s sad to see you go @DamnPete

Most of the things that you are citing can be fixed.

The app should not open on a random song, it should remember your last song.

But we do appreciate your honest feedback, and we’ll consider it for the future!
