I mostly use Deezer via the Yamaha MusicCast app to play with lossless quality via my net streamer.  MusicCast has its issues from time to time as Airable sometimes seems to suffer from latency and hang ups either on its own servers, or at either the Deezer or Yamaha ends, but for the most part these are swiftly resolved and aside from the awful GUI, its a good service.

Partly due to the awful GUI, and partly as i’m typically too busy focusing on my day job to want to spend more than 30s figuring out what to listen to next, my go to feature on a several times a day basis, was ‘recommended artists’ and ‘recommended albums’.  These would change weekly (usually just about enough time for me to have gotten through all of them) and appeared to be based on my recent listening preferences, which had the nice effect of allowing a certain degree of natural exploration as when an artist i wouldn't typically listen to was recommended and i’d had their tracks on a couple of times through the week, next week i’d find another artist or two from the same genre sitting in my recommendations awaiting discovery.  My taste is quite eclectic, so my natural listening habits meant that almost every week i had a smorgasbord of recommendations, and that on a typical week i would discover at least one new artist or album which would be added to my favorites.

This is the other reason why i rely on recommendations , as i now have so many artists saved that i end up with choice overload, and without recommendations I can easily burn 10 or 15 minutes procrastinating over who to listen to next!  Finding new artists is exciting and something that i have always felt Deezer enabled far more so than Spotify, but removing these recommended features is a huge step back, and for me personally it has massively dented the value of the service.  I am happy to pay for a service that i enjoy, and delighted when it helps me to constantly discover new artists and music as i see this as a significant added value element, but when i’m faced with a terribly designed app (that particular one is Yamaha’s bad though) and nothing but an empty text box to search for music, it is about as uninspiring as it could possibly be, and just gets me frustrated and wound up now every time, whereas it used to ellicit a smile, and was a part of my day that i looked forward to.

I have already spoken with Yamaha and Airable and they have both confirmed that this is a feature that Deezer have removed, and so they cannot reinstate it unless Deezer does so, as the recommendation information comes from your algorithm and they simply pass the data through.

Could you please confirm whether this service will be reinstated, and if so when?  If not, can you please explain why this fantastic feature, which is at the end of the day software based and essentially ‘free’ to provide, has been removed, and what the reasons for it not being reinstated are?

Personally my feeling is that this is a significant enough reduction in the quality of service, and regular every day annoyance, that if its not rectified i will most likely cancel my subscription and move over to Tidal to see whether it lives up to the hype.  I do hope this is something that can be resolved quickly.  Thanks
