Is it possible to clarify why Deezer was removed from Incontrol Touch Pro (Jaguar; LandRover)?

I received the following message from Jaguar:

“IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT YOUR DEEZER APP

Due to circumstances beyond our control, you’ll no longer have direct access to the Deezer app in your Jaguar’s infotainment system from 1st November 2023.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause; however, you will still be able to stream Deezer in your vehicle via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto*.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.”

This combined with the hi-fi option was the main reason to stick with Deezer. Since it was a very convenient way to listen to music directly on the car. Now if I want the same convenience I have to change my subscription to other provider.

Hello @Filipe Coelho thanks for raising this concern.

Unfortunately, we occasionally need to make difficult decisions, about which platforms we can support effectively in order to provide the best possible experience for all of our users.

This means saying goodbye to certain older versions of applications, like the Deezer on those platforms.

Nevertheless you can still play music on car brands using Android Auto or Carplay. Check your article here.

Just to be clear, was this a decision by Deezer or JLR?  I have not received any communication but have noticed that Deezer has disappeared from my media options and I wondered why - particularly as Spotify is still supported.

Speculation here.  All the streamers are laying off people - would have been a decision from Deezer based on usage metrics.  It’s a pity only Spotify and Alexa/AM are left on the platform now as I far preferred Deezer.

The app clearly had minor problems getting itself into connectivity error outs - easily resolveable I would have thought.

Still it’s a small company and the fact that they’re using Electron says much.  Just as long as Garmin isn’t next to get the chop!

This is a pity to read the answer from Leonidia. It’s the first time that I start looking for Spotify as alternative - as it further on available on Pivi Pro.

Hi Leonidia,

thanks for your answer. Deezer should be more careful with this kind of decisions. Leaving a platform that is sold in brandnew cars and is used in relatively new cars (below 5 years) is not supporting Deezer reputation. It is really a pity. But one of your competitors is still available Jaguar /Landrover on in-car platform.
Would be nice, if you have positive news, before I change my music streaming partner.

Best Regards,
