Why can't I cast from Deezer (UWP)?

Hi,

I am unable to Chrome Cast from Deezer in the UWP app on Desktop, but I can Chrome Cast from a Web Browser on the same Desktop? The Icon on desktop does not appear.

Why don’t we have the same features in the dedicated app? This seems a little pointless to have an app when I need to use the browser for features.

Thanks

Edit: As it turns out, the button in the browser doesn’t do anything. I think this needs improving. My android TV is on the same Wifi Network.

Hello @lewis-dawson-gb

Google no longer supports Chromecast setup using a computer. You’ll need to use a mobile device to set up Chromecast.

You can only Cast from Chrome, cause it’s their browser.

This missing feature is about the only thing keeping me from moving from Spotify to Deezer.

Spotify can cast directly from their Windows 10 application, how they are the only one I do not know.

Casting from the application itself is a must for me as I cast all my music to my Google speakers and casting from Chrome is not sufficient as then I will need to keep a separate browser open just for music (I do not use Chrome at all). If I close the browser for whatever reason, the music will stop. I also use the media keys on my keyboard to pause or skip songs which does not appear to work when casting from a browser.

I see the cast button has appeared in Firefox, it was not there the last time I tried, but it does not work anyway. Clicking it does nothing.

Spotify is a terrible service, but currently the only application I can cast directly from the desktop app so I am stuck there.

I saw mention in another thread that Spotify uses its own method of casting, but below I see the Chromecast icon.

Since this is a UWP app, you don’t have to use Chromecast. You can use native UWP code to cast to remote devices:
