I mean DEEZER can currently be UPLOADED in MP3... And that is not enough On other platforms they have, the option to upload music in other formats, as well as, YOUTUBE MUSIC, APPLE MUSIC, AMAZON MUSIC ... And we want DEEZER to be able to have that option too and not just MP3 Thank you.

Hey there, @Hillsong Music

Unfortunately I don’t think this feature will be improve as Youtube, Apple and Amazon music are our competitors.

But if you have other formats ideas that don’t involve other streaming platfoms, we are open to hear it.

It's not about competition, it's about how, it supplies the need of people...If it will work...users have music, that DEEZER does not have in its catalogues...another, New opportunity for creators to compose new music and listen on their preferred platform...I hope you take it into account...many thanks, BLESSINGS

As far as I know, the other streaming providers that you mentioned may allow uploading lossless or even uncompressed audio formats like FLAC or WAV, but they all convert them to their usual lossy audio format afterwards like e.g. AAC.

You can still vote for my old idea of uploading FLAC files in Deezer that should of course also be streamable afterwards in the same format:

I support the need for a feature to upload .wav files.

FLAC files are huge so it’s understandable that would be expensive for Deezer to support.

I’d suggest Opus for uploads. Opus offers better audio quality at lower bitrates than MP3 and, based on my personal experience, smaller files. Critically, the Opus codec is open source and royalty free, meaning Deezer would not need to pay licensing fees to play .opus files in its commercial product.

I encoded a song in MP3 using `lame --preset standard` and in Opus using `opusenc --bitrate 128`; according to their respective documentation these are transparent for most listeners. The MP3 file was 17% larger than the Opus file, details below.

        WAV    53MB

        FLAC    33MB

        MP3    6.7MB

        Opus    5.7MB

Opus files uploaded by users would save Deezer money on storage and network egress for the same audio quality vs. MP3.

Please consider Opus. Better for users, better for Deezer.
