Hi. New here and first post. I’ve just recently converted from TIDAL to Deezer and it rocks! I’ve had no beefs at all with Deezer until this morning. More of a question really. Two of my favorite tunes in the Prog Rock world are covers of Tarkus (ELP) and Sound Chaser (YES) by Jordan Rudess. The album these songs are from is “The Road Home.” That album exists in Deezer, but the two songs I mention above are greyed out and cannot be played.
Can anyone explain why this would be?
Many thanks,
Cap

Hi @Capndad !
That is mean that This track is not available in your country .
Streaming rights are defined by territory - country, region, location. The tracks that appear in the search box when you're looking for music are the songs that are available in all territories. In a small number of cases, a user in a different country may not have access to different tracks so an "unavailable in your country" message appears when they try to listen to it.
I've also checked out it myself and also in The Netherlands those 2 numbers aren't accessible.
But I find it a bit odd that those 2 songs are available at Spotify and Tidal, so it could be something else?
It’s the same on the album page in Germany, both cover versions are greyed out and not playable with the same popup info when hovering the tracks with your mouse. As has been mentioned, the reason is varying copyrights for these cover songs per country and streaming site. My guess is that they are playable for Deezer users in the US. Where are you located?
Thank you for your replies. But if that's the case, why are they available on Tidal, or other streaking services? Are copyrights applied to individual songs rather than whole albums? The rest of the album is playable.
Thanks
I think the problem with these two songs is that they are cover versions by Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer where their copyright holders (probably different from the one for Jordan Rudess) do not allow global playback for Deezer, but for Tidal.
@Capndad indeed, copyrights are negotiated within different platforms, and also within songs and different types of subscriptions.

Thanks. THat makes sense I guess, although I assume the negotiations that take place must be at a fairly high level. i.e. they don’t negotiate song by song. I guess I’ll just keep accessing TIDAL and Spotify for those that Deezer doesn’t have available.

Good thought. Thanks

Hi. I’m in Canada. Both Tidal and Spotify have these songs in this country.

Yes. That’s the original by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The song I wrote about in this thread is the cover done by Jordan Rudess. IMO, better than the original. :-)

BY the way, that’s an interesting screen shot with the lyrics displayed. I don’t believe we have that feature here in Canada. Where do I see if its an active feature I can have?
Are you saying that you don't have lyrics that you can read while listening to the music?
Not every song had lyrics, but a lot do.
Here is an example:
If all I have to do is click that Lyrics icon, I’ve not seen that yet. We’ve only been on Deezer for less than a week so I’ll keep my eyes open for that. Thanks.

Is this image from your phone? I’m on desktop.
Hi @Capndad !
Here is same song on Desktop Deezer app .
Like @awesomemac said : Not every song had lyrics, but a lot do
Also ,many songs have lyrics but they are not synchronized and then you got note :
These lyrics aren't synchronized with the track yet.
When songs don't have lyrics at all , then is there are not mic icon beside song .
I guess I’ll have to contact support. I’ve followed the advice they give online re the three dots containing a microphone icon, but that is not the case with my app. I was on web Deezer, so downloaded the desktop app, but it is the same there - i.e. no Microphone icon.
Thanks for your assistance regardless.

@Capndad
It’s really strange how on your Deezer you don’t have mic icon !
Here is screenshot and there is mic ,heart and 3 dots .
If you will contact Deezer support you can send them your screenshot then they will better see problem .
Well this is embarrassing. I found the mic icon in my favorites list. Most of the songs in there have lyrics, so it was easy to see the icon. I went to another display of songs and there were none.
Thank you for your persistence and help. Most appreciated.

I guess I’ll just keep accessing TIDAL and Spotify for those that Deezer doesn’t have available.
If you have MP3 files of these songs, you can also upload them to your Deezer account and add them to a playlist with the working songs of that album. You can then access the playlist in all Deezer apps.
Hi @Capndad, some of the songs are available with lyrics and some are without.
I can check the songs where you can't see lyrics, just give some examples.
