I watched for the topic about special chars: https://en.deezercommunity.com/archive-51/problem-with-search-in-deezer-web-version-and-special-characters-63367?postid=193559#post193559

Not it’s unavailable:

Why?

Anyway, I still have problems with long dashes in search. Is it difficult to fix/change?

Hello @AlexWayfer, after 1 year in the community if the thread is not active we archive it.

Which was the case for that link you shared.

There has been some work on the search function, can you give us an example of an issue you are still encountering?

Of course.

Working: https://www.deezer.com/search/Polygon%20-%20without%20me

Not working: https://www.deezer.com/search/Polygon%20%E2%80%94%20without%20me

Just the long dash (actually more correct) instead of dash/minus sign breaks all the search.

This search works OK for me.  That is, it doesn’t “break all the search”, but it does result in a different set of results.

The first has 3 results; the latter has only 1 result.

It looks like it has been changed.

OK, new examples, now with screenshots:

Working: https://www.deezer.com/search/camo%20krooked%20-%20get%20dirty/track

Hey @AlexWayfer

Thanks for the examples, I sent it to our developers, I return to you when they answer me. 🕵🏽

For me it’s a bit different, I receive one and two results.

New (actual) example with long dash:

Are you kidding me, what is this:

Hey @AlexWayfer, please do not use the long dash when searching for a song, just the short one or none at all

  1. I often meet the long dash in bot responses, for example. Instead of removing it from search criteria (or decrease it’s coefficient), you’re asking me to edit the text before search. It’s uncomfoprtable. And “-” is not a “short dash”, it’s hyphen, not even a minus sign. I also would notice, that a long dash is more correct for separating artist name and song name than hyphen.
  2. The last message was about non-obvious cyrillic matches, without hyphens or dashes at all. Search works with cyrillic artist name, but not with latin, just copied from the Deezer itself.

Hey @AlexWayfer I have shown the team the second ex. with the cyrillic and it should be fixed now!

Have you tried? It still doesn’t work for me.

I’d like to loop search results, especially single track:

https://www.deezer.com/search/%D0%BB%D1%83%D0%BD%D0%B0%20%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%BE%D0%BB%D1%91%D1%82%D1%8B/track

I have been told it should be fixed again by tomorrow!

Should I screenshot it with dates now?

No, you are right, @AlexWayfer. I have contacted the team again!

Thanks, I see the case with “LUNA” is resolved.

Now let’s wait for the long-dash (—) fix, from which this thread has been started. Another year, I guess.

I found another symbol, which behaves like long dash (—):

https://www.deezer.com/search/Follow%20Me%20%C2%B7%20ShockOne/track

https://www.deezer.com/search/Follow%20Me%20%E2%80%94%20ShockOne/track

I believe such symbols should not affect search result as much as now.
