As the title says. This means that if an ad comes on (which is often) while driving, I can't continue listening to music unless I unlock my screen which is dangerous. Ridiculous

Do you mean only when you are driving, every time an ad is playing you need to unlock screen to hear the ad and then music keeps playing?
How do you connect your phone to your car. Automotive OS, Android Car Play or via Bluetooth ?
Could you share a video?
If you don’t connect your phone to the car, do you have the same issue?
