random isn't patterns !!!

pls fix !!!!!!
Hi Octavian, this is how it works, but we will keep passing this feedback on to our devs and hopefully they will be able to improve this feature soon!
yeah , many thanks.. but then again :

1

with a big enough playlist - songs in a playlist - Shuffle (which i think is based on the idiot idea of 'what you listened to most' ) builds itself ... by Playing always same songs gives 'rank'(priority) to same songs (whatever your preferences are, songs are ordered by AI )

2

the other 2 options of listening a playlist:

add order and reverse add order (...... for both there's always an order of playing the songs )

so if i create a playlist (considering it's done by me i like All its contents) how can i listen to them songs without listening always same song order . wait for hours to get to its end? click next 300 times? start today and listen to it tomorrow?

thanks

Tavi

Yes,  I was just thinking about this… I want my playlist to automatically shuffle for anyone who happens to listen to it, instead of it playing in the order songs were added.. Please make this happen

Thanks for your feedback @C E C. @Octavian.Matei

We'll pass it on to the right teams here at Deezer :thumbsup_tone2:

Why does the shuffle feature get stuck on the same songs or genre of songs. Shuffle should be random songs in your favorites playlist right??? I download so many songs and i never get to hear all my list. I do pay for the premium service. Please fix or im jumping to apple music

Hi @karms we’re sorry to hear it keeps on repeating track. Could you please let me know the exact number of songs you have downloaded? Could you please let me know where exactly you click on when starting your Shuffle mode?

In any case, please start your shuffle with a different song every single time and make sure to skip the song when you do not want to hear it again. This should improve your experience and shuffle suggestions very quickly

I suffer the same problem

Shuffle does not shuffle

It always plays the same songs with the same order.

I hate it.

Fix it asap

Hey @Coskun.KILICASLAN

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. In which device and app are you shuffling with the same order? Let us know so that I can personalise the feedback to our devs :thumbsup_tone2:

random isn't patterns !!!
pls fix !!!!!!

YES, This got to be corrected., PLEASE

Thanks for bumping this up @Vicente.Gasca - in the meantime, please try clearing the app's cache for an improved experience :thumbsup_tone2:

Am very close to moving over to Spotify because of this. I want the shuffle to actually be random. There’s no use to it if it just plays the same songs in the same order always. Seems many have complained about this for a long time now & yet it hasn’t been fixed. It’s a deal-breaker for me.
Thanks.

Sorry you feel that way @11_Rose_18 thank you for your support so far!

It depends on each platform (about the fix). Are you experiencing the same shuffle in which feature and in which app? Please help us tailor your feedback so that it's more effective here at Deezer :thumbsup_tone2:

It’s when I play my own playlists either by asking my Google Mini and requesting it be shuffled or if I use the desktop player and click the shuffle. It makes no difference, they both behave the same way and play the songs in the same “shuffled order” every time. And I do currently have a subscription so that makes no difference either. It’s highly annoying as I really want a totally random shuffle.

I can imagine how annoying that can be @11_Rose_18 thank you for clarifying it's happening on a Google Home device. And apologies for the experience.

We've been working to solve this and other issues with the integrations in terms of playback, but it's taking quite some time. We're also depending on Google to cross over the line. I'll pass your comments to the teams working on this, to see if things can be sped up. Thank you for your support so far :pray_tone2:

Again, it’s not only on the Google device, though. It also happens the same way when I just use the web player directly from the Deezer site on my computer. So it’s on your end, not Google’s. It’s been like this for years. How long can it take? Anyway, hope it is resolved soon, as I said, or I will be switching to Spotify. And that would be a shame because I do prefer this service. Thanks.

Sorry again @11_Rose_18 I didn't mean it was happening only on Google devices. I was just glad to know you could specify where you noticed the issue. And to fix it for Google devices, it'll take longer than usual.

It's definitely on our end and I've already mentioned it to our devs :thumbsup_tone2:

Having given up on the idiotic Flow - refer other threads - I gave Shuffle another go the last day or so after abandoning it a while back.

Well, all I can say is that I’m glad I have R.E.M., Joni Mitchell and Neil Young in my 199 artist list. Because that’s about all I get from  the misnamed “Shuffle” feature.

Do you guys know that the word “shuffle” means “to rearrange things in a random or pseudo-random order”?

It doesn’t mean “play songs from artists who belong to labels that pay Deezer a higher fee”.

Out of the nearly 200 artists in my artist list, I hear songs from about 10, maybe 15 artists and about 5% of their catalogue. That’s a very small song sample for a feature called “Shuffle”.

Eg:

How can I hear three R.E.M. songs IN SUCCESSION? How can I hear the SAME Joni Mitchell song (“Coyote”) EVERY TIME I play Shuffle? How can I hear the same R.E.M. song (“Radio Song”) three times in an hour?

Please fire your developers. They clearly don’t have a clue what they’re doing to get BOTH Flow AND Shuffle so wrong.

Many, many people in this Community are TELLING YOU that these features do not work how we want them to work. You provide the standard “thanks for your feedback” and “we’ll pass it along to our developers”, yet YEARS go by without ANY improvement. (Those Universal Music Group fees are just too hard to ignore, aren’t they?)

I give up, Deezer. My annual subscription runs out in a few weeks and I think I’ll try Spotify or go back to Tidal.

Thank you for your detailed feedback @Steve C

I've now forwarded every word of it because we shouldn't turn our back to this feature's criticism. I understand your points and I'm sincerely sorry for the experience you've had with the shuffle mode and with Flow.

Deezer has put all hands together and we've recently decided we're going back to basics. This is something discussed at length internally, so I'm sharing a bit with you, exclusively.

We'll be putting our efforts into getting our player to work as a player should be. Efficient, reliable, and with the ability to connect to different devices and sources. This has been the feedback from the community for a couple of years now. So it's time to get our resources together and get some of these essential features right. That's what we aim to deliver in 2021.

So I invite you, perhaps without paying for a subscription, to check back with us around the first quarter of the next year, to see where we're at in terms of improvement and development. I'm unable to share deadlines and other plans we have, but I can assure you that the commitment is great. Deezer is the underdog in the streaming market, and for this reason, everyone here is passionate about you, users, and music. So we'll keep working to get to the next level. Trust me, I've been here for a few years and there are only better things to come :v_tone2:

@Rudi Goodreply, Rudi, but it might be too-little-too-late for me and some others here.

Yes, please do get “back to basics”: “Shuffle” implies “Random” to most people, I think. And if you’re truly wading through users’ catalogues, you might still get some statistical issues such as song repeats or the same artist in a row but that should be very minor compared to what happens now. It shouldn’t be too difficult to come up with something that works much better. (Refer to my previous posts about smart cataloging of songs with on a short ID based on artist/song/album.)

With Flow, you can mix in other material as the current description says, just don’t do weird/annoying  things like play me a Whitney Houston or Jay Z or Bryan Adams track if I don’t have anything resembling them in my lists (which I don’t).

Good luck!

Sure, @Steve C one question out of my own curiosity: have you tried to select a mood on Flow? It has this little angry face button where you can select a genre for it.

About the rest, you've got a point. The issue isn't to come up with something that works much better, in our app, all these features are connected. So one of the ideas is to create a whole new player. It might take longer if we go through this route, but we could end up with something faster and more reliable in the end.

Thank you once more for your feedback!

Shuffling playlists for me it actually works well, yay!

Flow and daily works, yay!

Trackmixes is where the problem is.

I do feel the same, like FLOW shuffle is a bit lousy, it often plays too much tracks I already like.

Yeah, but the good thing is that it's actually fine-tuning for your taste @hpguru

Thanks for the feedback!

… have you tried to select a mood on Flow?

Yes, I did try to try that but it kinda didn’t give me any choices that made sense.

Anyway, I’ve cancelled my annual Premium subscription. I might check in again in a year or so. But today was the end for me; virtually every 4th or 5th song was R.E.M. I like R.E.M. - quite a lot - but it makes zero sense that a shuffle algorithm can throw up one artist out of 200 20% of the time. Seems a bit sus to me.

Good luck!

Thanks for the honesty @Steve C we'll surely keep working on this so that perhaps we can sway you back!

If you were using the Shuffle My Music option in your favourites, this counts everything except artists (playlists, albums, tracks). Thanks to your feedback our teams are discussing different approaches to this :thumbsup_tone2:

... this counts everything except artists (playlists, albums, tracks).

Do you mean that Shuffle does not refer to any artists I’ve favourite-d when playing and only looks at playlists and favourite-d albums and tracks?
