This is nonsense. How are young people who might not know what they like get started on deezer?

Hi @Wallby, thank you for sharing your feedback.

The reason the app asks for the selection of fifteen artists is to ensure that users can enjoy all Deezer app features, including Flow, right from the start.

@Leonídia.Deezer Hello, it seems like a “skip” button or selecting less then 15 artists to have Deezer automatically fill in the remaining of the 15 with random choices would work too. That way people could always add artists later but don't have to do it to get started.

I would prefer not to have all the features than have to pick random artists in order to get started on the app. I would love it if there was a skip button, perhaps adding a warning about not getting access to all features unless you have 15 would work? I really think a skip button is needed. I don’t really know what I like, I just know I don’t like a lot of things. In my App Store review this was an issue I touched on. I don’t think it would be hard to add a skip but ofc idk how your code is formatted so maybe it’s harder than I think.

Hi @artrees, thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I understand how a skip button could make the onboarding process smoother, especially if you're unsure about which artists to pick.

I'll make sure to pass this feedback along to our development team for consideration.

If you have any more insights or need further help, please let me know!

Maybe it is easier for some users to pick a genre or a mood at the start like pop, rock, dance, chill etc., so it could be offered as a choice for starters.

I’d like to echo the above sentiments. It’s a bad user experience. I select 15 at random and removed them immediately it works but it’s bad. Just put a notice that some features may not work optimally if you elect to skip.

In most music streaming services you are asked to select a number of favorites. Also with Deezer, so that Deezer quickly knows what you are listening to. You then very quickly get your Daily's and playlists that are in your music taste. That is how I experienced it when I ended up at Deezer. I myself cannot understand why this would be bad user friendliness.

Hi, I just picked Deezer as an alternative to Trump-supporting Spotify, but this lack of a skip button just killed Deezer for me. Un-subbing immediately.

I installed Deezer half an hour before my workout and was in a rush to get some motivation in.

Instead of just letting me listen to any music I want to in that moment, Deezer wanted me to select 15 artists (while I really only listen to five).

No way to skip, no way to just listen to any music - what a horrible user experience.

I canceled my fresh subscription immediately - I guess it's Qobuz from hereon out.

What especially makes me mad, is that I can’t unselect the random artists I selected to get past the prompt. The Deezer app somehow expects that I have atleast 15 artists that I like. I was hoping to get away from Spotify. I guess not then.

Same for me - just had the idea for the one month for free to use Deezer with the Intention to Switch from Spotify and I do not understand what for hell I need to select 15 artists with my first log-in - I just want to search for musik with my first log-in.

Additional I have no interest for getting proposals what I have to like by an algorithmen with advanced mimiky.

From the „Support“ I got a bla bla „AI-answer“, but not help with just releasing my account for getting rid of that nonsense. …

24 hours for heal that - if I will get no solution, I will cancel my account.

Isn’t it the case that with other services like Spotify and YouTube Music, you also select a few favourites when you use them for the first time?

And you mentioned that you don’t want Deezer to use its algorithm, the proposals, but that’s bound to happen once you start listening to music. The more you listen, the more personalised the recommendations will become.

They end up in your favorites, so you can remove them there. Luckily you have to do it just once. I agree – such onboarding experience sucks.

In Spotify I have no favorites by hand selected. I have a selection of albums or titles I would like to listen to and ignore all that automated content that artificial mimicry assumes, I would possible like to listen to.

To be honest, I am avoiding to use YouTube and so far I had no idea to see there for music and play that on a HiFi or multichannel home equipment. Both for video and music that YouTube is just LowFi, eventually good for nomadic devices, for which I have only limited expectations in respect of the quality, what in the end is true for the information content I get from YouTube, too. So, no more than two or three times the year I try YouTube, always with the same result, not my way and for me that is waste of time.

Back to Deezer - my intention was to get a better alternative to Spotify, but the official answer from Deezer I got this morning, they are not willing or capable to offer a way to their content w/o that preselection - so I will be out.

And now the next topic - it is not possible to resign the, my account, because the web-page and the app is not offering to open my stetiges, so I cannot start the resign. …
