Hi there, I just had a couple of questions about Flow...

1) I Like and Dislike Songs of the Same Genre so how does Deezer's Flow determine if I Like or Dislike that Genre?

2a) I assume that Normal Flow includes all my Favorite Songs - is this correct?

b) Does Flow Mood include all the Songs in my Favorites List or Only Some? (I ask if there is a distinction here because I wonder if only Songs that Fit the Mood will be included from my Favorite Songs to maintain that Feeling/Ambiance...)

3) What can be Expected with the upcoming updated ability to change Discovery Level? Currently it is possible to switch between 2 formats - "I want more Favorites/Discoveries."

4) Is Deezer getting rid of the Feature to "Change the Style" for Flow? How Come?

Thanks,

Glenn

Hello @Glenn Deol

  1. Your Flow will not eliminate a whole “genre” based on a few disliked songs.
  2. Your Flow considers all your favourites, but only proposes some of them each time to fit with the Flow that is playing.
  3. If you are on iOS you will be able to see the new feature already, the Android version will come out soon enough. We have created a new wheel that is divided into genres!
  4. We are not getting rid of anything from the current flow, just adding to it!

If you want to know more about Flow check our Knowledge base articles here:

  1. I’m guessing that it isn’t, but is it possible to eliminate a Genre?
  2. I don’t know how to access The Wheel for Genres on IOS. What does this have to do with Discovery Levels?
  3. During an email conversation I asked “Does Changing the Style on Flow Switch between the different Moods?” To which I received the following answer...
    A. “It refers more about changing the genre of the music recommended, but this feature should disappear soon.” Hopefully, you can see why I am a bit confused, but I think what you meant to say was that “Flow is getting better,” (correct me if I’m wrong).

Hi @Glenn Deol , as Yula mentioned it is not possible to eliminate a Genre of music.

Also we will not get rid of anything when we talk about the Flow Wheel. How you can get the Genres on iOS? Easy, just make sure you have the latest version of the Deezer app (9.41.0).

After that, select the Flow, and open the Flow Wheel. slight the wheel to the right and you will get the Genre Wheel.

Yula did not explicitly mention that a Genre cannot be eliminated, but you have, so I appreciate that being cleared up.

I’m still trying to figure out how to “slight the wheel” to get the Genres to show up on my phone. Is there a video or written instructions that goes over this?

Also, I was told that “discovery level can be changed soon,” what exactly does this mean?

Thanks

This discussion has introduced me to the second flow wheel...I appreciate that and look forward to exploring the options! And ya, it is as simple as a “swipe” of the wheel.
