Please include an option to remove Podcast Tab from Deezer

I am not interested in listening to podcasts on Deezer. I already have plenty of other apps for that. Please include an option to disable or at least hide the podcast tab. I already left Spotify because of how they keep pushing podcasts down your throat. Looks like Deezer is headed in the same direction. I am already considering cancelling because of this change.

Sorry to hear that.

Like any other music app, they seem to have something for everyone.

Did you know, that on Deezer or Spotify as well, there are tons of lectures as well? Books for kids spoken by calm voices. I personally enjoy podcasts as these are all-in-one now with music. I hope Deezer can add music videos one day, then I do not need YouTube for that. Again, sorry for any inconveniences. You are on right place now to tell about your concerns a little bit more.

You have no need to use Podcasts on Deezer.

Right now they have no option to make them hidden. I hope it can be done in the future.

Your feedback may be one of the greatest towards right direction.

Is there anything Deezer can do to make you listen Podcasts with them instead of other apps mentioned? You can give them some feedback in that view too as they are going to improve.

Thank you for listening your music on Deezer!

Looking forward to see you on board to hear Podcasts as well once feature gets improved.

I already made a list of features I think the podcast-section needs before it is actually useful. I will gladly put it here again:

Essential:

  • Vastly larger catalogue
  • Automatic downloads
  • Variable speed

Nice to have:

  • Podcast playlists/filters
  • Volume normalisation
  • Silence trim
  • Skip intro/outro of podcasts

Until the essentials are in place, I’d prefer to keep on using Pocketcasts and disable the podcasts tab in Deezer. So I second this request for being able to hide the podcast functionality.

Fair enough @teaumaz great feedback!

I've forwarded it to the team working on improving our Podcasts. You must have noticed that since the launch, Deezer has improved a lot on this. I believe our next step is to crack the variable speed setting. The real challenge is to bring these improvements to our app, which needs its own improvements first :thumbsup_tone2:

Thank you for your honesty as well @pedro9000 will pass it on!

Absolutely loving the way you just IGNORE the OPs request and start propagandizing podcasts that many off us want to be able to disable completely.

This is a common issue with most streaming services (Qobuz being the exception).

That “home page” on player is very important. Having things on there that customers do not want (for example podcasts or Pride LGBT playlists) are showstoppers for many. Deezer could stand out of the crowd by allowing end-users to do some kind of customizations of “their home page”.  You bind people by allowing them to customize the player to their preferrences,  instead of alienating them by forcing “things” upon them.

I have nothing against podcasts or LGBT people. I have an issue with putting those things on “my music player” and not being able to do anything about it.

I agree fully with this. I don’t listen to podcasts at all and despise these MUSIC apps giving up valuable real estate to entirely different services.
I just signed up for the premium trial. I’ll likely stick with Tidal though because although they have an inferior music selection they have a more pleasing interface.

That is remarkable. I cancelled my Deezer trial for 2 reasons :

  1. The homepage as discussed
  2. Limited / unclear support for the DAC I steam into

I switch to TIDAL which has a user interface that is 100% about music and music-clips (and no signs of what “the critical drinker” on YouTube calls “the message”). I also appreciate the output option in TIDAL (the speaker button) where you can switch between speakers, DAC, Chromecast, etc.

One TIDAL tip : for example, when I look for “Wings” albums, “wings over america” is missing. If you search for “wings over america” it is found (artist is “Paul McCartney, Wings”). It feels like they do not always index in the most logical way and sometimes I use the title of a song to find an album.

Any updates?
