I think "Fm-84" might be an AI clone of FM-84...

Hi,

Deezer recently notified of a new release by “Fm-84” which I have just checked out. There are issues :

  • Separate artist page despite near identical artwork “Fm-84” / FM-84
  • Fm-84’s page features many pieces of work all authored within a 2 month period
  • Fm-84 tunes sound flat and no where near as inspired as FM-84’s work
  • FM-84 is Col Bennett from Scotland and he has verified social media presence (Facebook, X, Bandcamp, etc) whereas I haven’t found much linking the new “Fm-84” content to Colin.
  • The new albums aren’t on his Bandcamp site.

AI copycat “artist” ?

Cheers

Hi @awebster !

I think it's about performers with the same name.
It's the same on You Tube

FM-84 - Leo Creed

FM-84-Colin Bennett

I just received a reply to an email I sent to Col Bennett about this, and yes Fm-84 (as opposed to FM-84) is confirmed AI slop. Hopefully Deezer will handle this swiftly...

Not according to Colin Bennett, who says he’s actively fighting these infringements. It’s a brave new world we’re living in where legitimate artists have to devote considerable time and money to fighting this kind of derivative AI crap. Compare Google results for “Colin Bennett music” & “Leo Creed music”...
