How to stop songs auto-playing when I log in?

For the last two days (8th July and this morning 9th July 2026), I have found that Deezer automatically starts playing me the first song on the “Brand New UK” playlist when I log in.

I have not liked or subscribed to that playlist - it is not in my regular library. And I do not want odd playlists skewing the recommendations on my regular ones.

I have looked through settings etc, but cannot seem to find a way to stop this auto-playing when I log in. Surely there must be some way to stop it, so that I can log in and take my time to pick what I want to listen to, not have songs start immediately that I don’t even want.

Is this a bug that you can sort out? Or a tactic to try and boost plays/streams of prominent artists? (It’s currently trying to play me one of Madonna’s new songs, which are not my cup of tea).

And is anyone else having this issue?

OK, I have found the issue - and it was me being impatient, not an issue with the site itself.

Sometimes, when the site is slow to load, I was clicking to get rid of the free trial ad that comes up in the middle of the page, and that was registering as a click to play the first recommended song - which can be among the last things to load when the homepage is being slow.

It makes sense now.

Sorry for the confusion!
