I can get deezer to play by using my voice on alexa, but Spotify and Amazon music allow you to use the phone apps to pick play lists, songs, and chose where to play the music. Ie play 9n denon receiver, kitchen group speakers, everywhere ....

Amazon Music allows you cast directly to Echo devices because it’s their own ecosystem.

With Spotify you can use Spotify Connect.

With deezer you can use voice control or routines.

I switched over to Sonos from Echoes years ago, because Sonos is platform-agnostic and doesn’t lock me into any service. And the sound quality with Sonos is far superior, allowing me to fully enjoy deezer in Hi-Fi.

I will be moving back to Spotify. The lack of convinience for me, is too much. My entire house is Alexa derives and group playing.

I might come back if and when they support alexa devices , play direct to stereo and so on....

Thank you for giving deezer a try. There are tradeoffs with every service and we all need to find what works for us.

Unfortunately I think I’ll be doing the same. I tried Tidal but they have absolutely no link to Alexa in the UK. So I got excited to see that Deezer did, but without the ability to choose a speaker or speaker group it’s really useless. Such a pity because I really don’t want to give Spotify my money but there really aren’t any alternatives that properly compare without majorly compromising major features.

I’m not in the UK, but you can’t tell Alexa, “Alexa, play my Flow on Deezer in the kitchen,” or “Alexa, play Deezer everywhere”?

When I was using Alexa/Echoes with Deezer, I could control speaker groups with voice commands or from the Alexa app.

Ooh you are actually right! Still not ideal but I’ll test this out now.
It doesn’t seem capable of playing specific playlists, nor does the ability to see what song it is playing or the ability to skip/choose the next song in the queue exist?

@Nicole Clothier I have an Echo speaker and it plays any of my playlists through the Alexa app or voice control. I can ask Alexa what is playing or see that info in the Alexa app. I can say “skip” or any number of other commands.

I’m in the US, but maybe spend some time playing around with the Alexa app and the voice commands. Deezer works well with Alexa and the Echo devices.

Best of luck and enjoy your music!

Ah, okay I think the key here is that it’s controlled in the Alexa app not the deezer app - I’ll have a play around then. Thank you!
