Miley Cyrus is kicking off a new era, and this time she’s simply Miley.
With Bass Persuades, she’s turning up the beats, leaning into dance and rock, and inviting us to put the phone down and actually enjoy the music.
 

After nearly two decades of reinventing herself, Miley has reached a pretty big milestone: Bass Persuades is her 10th studio album. From Bangerz to Plastic Hearts and last year’s Something Beautiful, she’s never been one to stay in the same musical lane for long. This time, though, the direction seems clear: turn it up and move.

The title track sets the tone, mixing synths, dance beats and a touch of rock. It also takes aim at something very familiar: our obsession with our phones. Miley’s message is simple: stop scrolling and start dancing.

There are some unexpected collaborators too. New York post-punk band Model/Actriz appear on Different Religion and feature on the Bass Persuades Remixx, adding another twist to the album.
 

And then there’s the name itself. Moving from “Miley Cyrus” to simply Miley feels like a small change, but it fits this new chapter: less about the character we’ve watched evolve over the years and more about the artist she is now.

So, after 10 albums and countless reinventions, where does this new Miley take us?

Maybe the answer is in the title.
