Discography issues - Albums on Deezer catalogue but hidden

I have two questions:

1) Why has the "Featured in" section vanished from all artist pages in the web browser version while still available in the app version?

2) Why do we have many albums that are not visible on their respective artist pages? They are on Deezer, if you search for them you will find them and can even listen to them, but these releases are no longer shown on their artists pages, as if they are hidden. I remember them being under the "More albums" sections, which never worked as they should have, because they made a real mess of Albums, EPs, Singles, etc. and never counted as their artists' latest release. Let me give you some examples...

I really have no clue about how these issues can even be a thing. It is so weird not being able to find an album on the artist page that opens from the album itself.

Thanks

Hi @Marcormark For the first issue, the "featured in" section will be restored on the artist page soon. The team has been making changes for a better user experience (i.e: remove duplicates, etc).
The second issue has been fixed for the examples you provided. Our metadata team is constantly working on theses issues.
Apologies for any inconvenience

Fingers crossed for the first issue, but the second one is much more important and serious.
Since I remember a "More albums" section where those releases were and it suddenly disappeared from the pages of all the artists, would it be possible to do the same to get those hidden releases back in place under the Albums, EPs, Singles, etc. sections?

Hi @Jaime., I have the same issue with Mono inc.

On their Deezer page you only can see 1 single, but Mono inc. has many albums, EP’s and more.

At this moment, when I want to listen to an album by Mono inc. I have to search for the album I want to listen to.

I actually thought they fixed it three years ago, but maybe only the pages I provided got fixed, who knows. 🤔

Hey @Random007 I didn’t say anything, just that our team works hard in fixing any issues reported by users. We really appreciate all your feedback and suggestions.
Thanks

When the "More albums" section was visible, we could at least ask for it to be fixed. This was how I realized the issue existed in the first place, and then I was able to provide two examples.
By the way, I have never seen unofficial albums there. And when that section was deleted again, I was hoping the releases would be restored under their respective categories (Albums, EPs, Singles, etc.), but that was not the case. It's harder for us to find hidden official albums now.

I just found out the "More albums" section is still available on the Android app, so we can keep checking for hidden albums of our favorite artists and ask Deezer support to fix them until the issue is solved at the root cause.

True, the most popular of all seems to do best, but you can see similar issues on other streaming platform services too, to be fair.

The Deezer Cataloging is very poor, and is in need of a serious overhaul.

What I mean by calling it poor:

  1. An Artist with “The” is alphabetised by Deezer under T.
  • E.g. “The Cure” should be under “C” and not “T”,
  • “A Tribe Called Quest” should be catalogued under “T” and not “A”.
  • I would even take it so far, that solo artists should be categorised under the surname, so David Bowie, should go under B for “Bowie, David” and not “D”.

These are standard AACR2 and RDA Rules, and what both Libraries and serious Music Databases operate under.

  1. There are so many band names / Artists with the wrong Albums, Singles etc, allocated under their name. It doesn’t matter how many times I have made Deezer aware of this, but it’s ignored.
  2. Sometimes, albums, songs etc still do not show up when looking at the “whole” discography, which is bizzar as I may have them stored as favourites.

I’m honestly spending more and more time on Spotify’s free streaming these days and considering to make the move back.

While at it, what is this with having to go via a web-site to login to the OSX Deezer App? The 90’s called and want  their setup back…

Honestly, I’m not holding my breath as I’m nt seeing this ever going to happen, hence thinking of Spotify may be more for me that Deezer...
