Discography issues - Albums on Deezer catalogue but hidden

I have two questions:

1) Why has the "Featured in" section vanished from all artist pages in the web browser version while still available in the app version?

2) Why do we have many albums that are not visible on their respective artist pages? They are on Deezer, if you search for them you will find them and can even listen to them, but these releases are no longer shown on their artists pages, as if they are hidden. I remember them being under the "More albums" sections, which never worked as they should have, because they made a real mess of Albums, EPs, Singles, etc. and never counted as their artists' latest release. Let me give you some examples...

I really have no clue about how these issues can even be a thing. It is so weird not being able to find an album on the artist page that opens from the album itself.

Thanks

Hi @Marcormark For the first issue, the "featured in" section will be restored on the artist page soon. The team has been making changes for a better user experience (i.e: remove duplicates, etc).
The second issue has been fixed for the examples you provided. Our metadata team is constantly working on theses issues.
Apologies for any inconvenience

Fingers crossed for the first issue, but the second one is much more important and serious.
Since I remember a "More albums" section where those releases were and it suddenly disappeared from the pages of all the artists, would it be possible to do the same to get those hidden releases back in place under the Albums, EPs, Singles, etc. sections?

@Jaime. “Our metadata team is constantly working on these issues.” Wait... do you really add releases to sections like Albums, EPs, and Singles MANUALLY? All albums provided by distributors and labels are official and should be placed in the corresponding categories automatically using a predefined algorithm. For example, on Apple Music, a release is considered an EP when:

  • One to three songs, with at least one song being at least 10 minutes long and a total running time of 30 minutes or less.
  • Four to six songs with a total running time of 30 minutes or less.

(source: https://help.apple.com/itc/musicstyleguide/en.lproj/static.html#:~:text=counted%20as%20songs.-,3.4.%20EPs,-.%20An%20album)

Of course, this system is not perfect, but it will at least show all albums on artists' pages immediately instead of waiting weeks (even years) to be verified and shown in the right category by the developer.

If I understand correctly, many artists’ official albums are not visible on their pages because they are not marked as official by a metadata team?

@Marcormark maybe this is the reason why there are so many missing albums on artists’ pages previously placed in “More albums” section.

Hi @Jaime., I have the same issue with Mono inc.

On their Deezer page you only can see 1 single, but Mono inc. has many albums, EP’s and more.

At this moment, when I want to listen to an album by Mono inc. I have to search for the album I want to listen to.

I actually thought they fixed it three years ago, but maybe only the pages I provided got fixed, who knows. 🤔

Hey @Random007 I didn’t say anything, just that our team works hard in fixing any issues reported by users. We really appreciate all your feedback and suggestions.
Thanks

Hi @Jaime. I think you misunderstood my point.

@awesomemac reported that there was only one single on Mono Inc.'s profile. After your intervention, the artist’s profile was fixed, and multiple albums are now visible. I have only one question, but it can take different forms (the whole point is the same):

  • Why were those releases hidden if they existed in the catalogue?
  • What prevented the Deezer system from showing those releases on the artist’s page?
  • Why weren’t those releases placed on the artist’s page automatically when they were delivered by the distributor or label?

I have answered here:

When the "More albums" section was visible, we could at least ask for it to be fixed. This was how I realized the issue existed in the first place, and then I was able to provide two examples.
By the way, I have never seen unofficial albums there. And when that section was deleted again, I was hoping the releases would be restored under their respective categories (Albums, EPs, Singles, etc.), but that was not the case. It's harder for us to find hidden official albums now.

I just found out the "More albums" section is still available on the Android app, so we can keep checking for hidden albums of our favorite artists and ask Deezer support to fix them until the issue is solved at the root cause.

I have a simpler solution. Switch to a different streaming platform service. Every (except Deezer, of course) show all artists' albums on their profile pages.

True, the most popular of all seems to do best, but you can see similar issues on other streaming platform services too, to be fair.
