Hard to believe, but it’s been 20 years since Green Day unleashed the iconic American Idiot album—a masterpiece that still stands as one of the most influential punk rock albums of all time.
To celebrate this incredible milestone, a Deluxe 20th anniversary edition was released on October 25.
When it first hit the scene, American Idiot brought us the unforgettable journey of the “Jesus of Suburbia”, a character navigating the chaos of modern life and diving deep into themes of war, disillusionment, and society’s broken promises.
American Idiot was Green Day’s first number 1 album in the United States and received critical acclaim, winning awards for Best Rock Album and Record of the Year for Boulevard of Broken Dreams at the Grammy’s, BRIT awards and MTV Europe music awards, plus a plethora of nominations across a number of categories.
It was loud, it was bold, and definitely changed the game. Two decades later, American Idiot still hits like the first time.
