Here comes the new beta 9.0.18, we hope you will like the improvements made in this version. Do not hesitate to give your feedback!

IMPROVEMENTS

▷ [ACCESSIBILITY] We improved the accessibility of smart playlists (STLs) by ensuring full TalkBack compatibility — all STL thumbnails are now reachable via swipe navigation and properly described — and by preventing cover text from being resized with system font scaling

▷ [LIBRARY] Users can now switch between list and grid display modes in the favorite artists page, with their display preference saved individually per user

▷ [LIBRARY] We added the possibility to sort content by recently played in the favorite albums page

▷ [LIBRARY] The “Downloaded music” page now features filters that replace the former section layout, making it much easier to browse downloaded content by type

▷ [PLAYER] As part of the timestamp recovery initiative, we implemented timestamp forwarding:

  • on playback pause/stop and track changes, enabling accurate playback position recovery when switching devices or resuming a session

  • on seek, ensuring the player's exact position is saved when a user seeks to a new position from any source (app, media session, notification, Bluetooth)

▷ [ONBOARDING] We enriched the search functionality within the artist picker to allow users to search for artists by album and song names - and not only by artist names

▷ [RECOMMENDATION] We investigated and validated a solution to improve the smart playlists cover loading time impression by adding fade-in animations on cover and placeholder (as implemented on iOS)

▷ [SETTINGS] We removed the "New" badge labels from the “App theme and color” and “App icon” options in the settings

BUG FIXES

▷ [ARTIST] We fixed an inconsistency where only two concert events were shown on the artist page on Android instead of three (as displayed on iOS), ensuring a consistent events experience across platforms

▷ [FOUNDATIONS] We removed a call to a synchronization method triggered at every app startup since version 9.0.14, which was causing significant mobile data overconsumption

▷ [OFFLINE] We fixed a regression introduced in version 9.0.17 where tapping the downloads shuffle button in offline/airplane mode would fail to start playback

▷ [PLAYER] We fixed the small phone icon size from 24dp to the correct 16dp, ensuring visual consistency with all other small icons across the app

▷ [REMIX] The app now automatically refreshes the "My Remixes" playlist in the library as soon as a remix experience is completed, so the newly created remix and/or playlist appear instantly without needing a manual pull-to-refresh

▷ [SEARCH] We fixed a display issue in the "Top result" block in search results where long track titles were not being properly truncated to the correct number of lines, aligning Android behavior with iOS

Hello! There is a crossfade bug that has persisted for many versions (ever since it was in Labs). I have already tried resetting and reinstalling the app, but the issue remains.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Set crossfade to N seconds (e.g. 8 sec)

2. Play any song in "repeat one" mode

3. The song gets cut off N seconds before the end and instantly jumps to the beginning (0:00) without any crossfade

Expected behaviour:

The song should either crossfade into its own beginning, or the app should ignore crossfade for "repeat one"

Thanks!

Hello Sullen.

Thank to your report we've been able to identify and fix this issue.
It should be OK in version 9.0.20 👍

Hello, you did indeed fix the crossfade issue, and that is great, thanks!!  However, 9.0.20.1 crashes a lot in Android Auto and does not want to load album art some of the time when crossfading.  In a typical 30 minute drive, it will crash at least once if not 2-3 times.
