Family members using a kids profile receive no search results when searching for artists which fall under child protection restrictions (e.g. the band Korn). However, in the proposal section (Favorites > Artists > + Add artist) there are no restrictions whatsoever and  proposed artists can be added to favorites from there. Once any of the “restricted” artists have been added to favorites the algorithm does the rest and more “restricted” artists are proposed. Songs with explicit lyrics can be played and the lyrics can be displayed. See attached gif.

Also, Google Assistant can be used to bypass restricted search terms. E.g. ask Google Assistant to “play Korn in Deezer” on a kids phone running Google Family Link and a kids profile of Deezer. 

This is a major design flaw in child protection and must be fixed immediately.

Unfortunately Deezer don't seem to be able or willing to fix any of the many bugs in their app…

Im sure if you're patient and wait a week or so, they will respond to tell you to turn your phone off and on again...🙄


Quite obviously so, yes. I had already posted the same issue report 5 days ago in another subforum where it drew zero attention so far. 


This is a pretty big oversight, hope the developers can look into this soon. 


It is indeed, I also hope the testers update their test plans accordingly. ...given they even have any software test engineers.

Thanks for your reply. Just so the requirements are clear; upon installation of the fix I expect all restricted artists/ content to be removed from the favorites of kids profiles automatically. No questions asked. No option to accept or decline any such removals.


Hey @Jan vdB our devs have asked if you could confirm the version of your Deezer app in your mobile device… 
Does this happens in any device or desktop where you switch to the kids profile?

On my own phone I’m running the latest version 8.0.6.65, PlayStore is not offering any updates.

The issue is also reproducible on any other android phone or tablet we own. I can’t speak to other operating systems

Hi @Jan vdB I am afraid that I don’t have an update or ETA when a fix will be deployed. The current status is “ready for development” though, so I hope the problem it is fixed soon.
