No longer able to skip forward/backward 30 sec within podcasts via lock screen or headphones

I installed Deezer recently and bought a subscription after a week. It was good, actually really exciting to have a Spotify alternative with features I love, until a few days ago when I tried to skip a podcast ad with my headphone buttons and it skipped the entire podcast instead of going forward 30 seconds. Weirdly, I had been able to do this for the first week of using Deezer but then the function just disappeared after I subscribed. My lock screen buttons also show just buttons to skip the entire episode now, not the 30 second forward & back buttons it used to have. I'm on Android, OnePlus Nord 5, OxygenOS 14.0.

This is a complete deal breaker because I listen to podcasts while working and am not allowed to touch my phone. I can't pull it out, unlock it, pull up the podcast and tap my screen every time the ads come up. I paid money and am now forced to listen to ads or use another app.

I have tried EVERYTHING trying to fix this. Updated phone OS, cleared app cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled Deezer, unpaired and re-paired headphones, tried different headphones, enabled all permissions, verified that I could still do it on other music/podcast apps before deleting those too. With every step I tried I rebooted my phone, and I've tried each of these things several times. Made sure there aren't open apps or browser tabs dragging my system down.

Support hasn't been any help because they ignored everything I wrote and just told me how to use the sleep timer. I'm actually offended by their response. I wrote back, but also don't have faith in that rep (or bot?) to help me. Submitted another support ticket and am hoping to hear from someone who actually cares.

There was another thread on this topic from 3 months ago, closed but with no actual resolution, and it's unclear as to whether this is a glitch or whether the feature is absent... but then again why was I able to skip podcast ads on Deezer with my headphone buttons for several days? Was that a glitch?

Does anyone have advice while I'm waiting for an answer from support, if I even get one? I'm at the end of my rope and will unsubscribe if I can't do something as basic as skipping ads with my headphone buttons while unnecessary bloated features dance all over my screen.
