most albums i open crash the app

Like the title says, whenever I try to open an album, there is a high chance that it will crash the app. I have tried everything to make it stop, but it keeps crashing!

The app is up to date, I have re-installed it multiple times and cleared the cache. Nothing works. I have read your forums and the only "helpful" thread had the issue resolved after re-installing the app.

At this point I am begging for help to have this resolved as fast as possible. It has been going on for months and I thought it would have been fixed by now!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the software is up to date. I have tried turning on and off multiple settings in my phone to see if they cause the issue but they do not. What do I do?

Edit: I thought I should clarify that not only albums crash the phones, but also singles and EPs. It does not matter if they are old or brand new releases. Everything on the app can crash the app! I have not had any issues with playlists (because I almost entirely do not use them) but I cannot exclude that as a possible problem as well.

Hi @Thako,  Indeed, we have received similar reports from other users, with most of them using Android 13, and some using Android 12. A significant portion of these users are on Samsung devices.

Our developers are aware of this issue and are actively working to address it. However, the root cause of the crashes has not been pinpointed yet.

We suspect that the crashes may be related to the new battery optimization features introduced in Android 13. These features have also been present in previous Android versions. You can find more information about this here: https://dontkillmyapp.com/samsung.

For our Samsung users, we recommend trying the following steps:

  1. Open your phone settings > Applications > Deezer.

    • Ensure that "Remove permissions if the app is unused" is disabled. If it's enabled, please disable it.
  2. Open your phone settings > Applications > Deezer.

    • Select "App Battery Usage" (you may need to tap on "Advanced Settings" to find it) and set it to "Unrestricted."
    • Open Deezer and test a album or a playlist.

In some cases, the crashes seem to be related to specific albums with special characters when performing a search and opening an album.

We would greatly appreciate hearing from all of you with more information about this issue. Please share any videos or additional details, including your Android version, and the Deezer version of the impacted phone.

Your feedback is essential in helping us resolve this matter.

None of these instructions helped me fix your issue. I basically pay for a service that I cannot use because it keeps crashing.

I already said my phone is fully software updated, and now I will tell you my Deezer version. The version is 7.1.4.88

What do we do now?

Hi @Thako

Look at this thread:

The problem is fixed in the latest beta, and I hope it will be released soon.
