Deezer was, by far, the largest drain of my battery today. It took HALF MY BATTERY listening to two hours of media. What is going on, guys?

My battery health is at 94% on a pixel 9a, I can make this phone easily last two full days. Apparently, except when I use Deezer.

Worse, all of this was music I'd already listened to recently, so it was cached. Most of these are in my downloads.

Wtf guys, this is insane?

All the latest updates. Don't you dare tell me to clear cache and disable background activity, this is obviously a more serious issue. I've been writing software professionally for more than a decade, something is off here.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that.
Could you please confirm if you noticed an increase in Data consumption too?
Thanks

No extra data consumption. I cache my most listened to music via downloads, and the data usage tracks that pattern. Only a few hundred MB in the last month.

I can also say my phone feels physically warm when playing music, so that also tracks with it being a SoC problem and not a modem/cellular problem.

Some thread is spinning full tilt on the processor. I don't know if that's required or not for Deezer's stack, but other streaming platforms function without doing this, as does web based streaming from the browser.

I switched away to a different platform, this isn't a new problem, it was just the final straw. My phone holds my banking info, payments, my transit and train tickets for my commute. A music app can't be allowed to compromise access to that.
