Hey Android users,

A new feature has been recently added to Deezer Labs on our Android app: variable playback speed for podcasts!

We’d like to hear from you to make sure we get closer and closer to what YOU want

:small_blue_diamond: How do you like this new feature?

:small_blue_diamond: What’s your favorite speed?

:small_blue_diamond: Do you prefer it to be on the player or in a menu?

:small_blue_diamond: Would you like your setting to be saved (always on until you switch it off)?

Tell everything to our Deezer Labs mad scientists, they’ll be reading! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I haven’t tested it yet. I’ll come back when I test it out.

Today I will listen a podcast from Ashley Berges, Perspectives on Deezer.

She talks about living your life at the fullest. This is revelation of life symphony.

When nature allows to thrive, you can finally feel alive! So thankful for her podcast!

Is a very good enjoyment to hear Perspectives on Deezer advertisement free.

So I listened an episode of Perspectives, and here are my options about feature.

I set up 1,25 speed and it was showing on the Now Playing in Episode. The bad thing, it can not be removed to 1 default speed on that view, you need to go back settings. Really time consuming.

Also I did not like clicking on number, it doubled the speed!!!

I’d say please keep it YouTube way.

0.25,0.5,0.75,1(Normal),1.25,1.75,2

That also could be set FROM Now Playing view, then it could be handy thanks!

That's awesome this feature arrived and it's working properly. I think It's better displayed on the player.

My favorite speeds are 0.75 for some podcasts in English (I'm an EFL) and 1.0 for podcasts in my native language.

The feature is great but I think there could pop-up a small menu to select the speed instead of running one by one untill the one I want.

Love the feedback @hpguru @Gabriel Felippe Mateus our developers will appreciate it too, that's exactly what we need.

@Rob Igo do you think you'd use the feature often?

I always listen to Podcasts at a slightly higher speed (normally 1.5 but sometimes 1.25/1.2 depending on the podcast).

It’s a great feature that was needed and I’m sure many will use! :)

So definitely an essential feature, we can say! @Rob Igo

Great to know :sunglasses:

I'm not sure why I'd want to speed up a podcast I'm listening to. TBH I don't see the point.

What I would find useful is to have the different sections bookmarked, like embedded highlights.

Good point. I hope they can consider it.

I’ve seen you posting lately a lot, please keep posting. We want to hear more from you.

@DrEvil you mean throughout an episode, being able to bookmark bits of it? If yes, a fascinating suggestion, I like it. Probably a bit complex to develop, but certainly a cool feature to have.

About the speed, some people do like to listen to it a bit faster, due to their routine. So it's a preference thing, really.

@Rudi yes exactly that, I guess the podcaster could add them before submission. Or a community effort to have nominated people add the bookmark. Just a thought.

Fair point, @DrEvil I'm just thinking about the actual technical feature displaying a bookmark. It's definitely a good suggestion!

@Rudi I guess think of it as a dvd bookmark for a podcast. So that would involve authoring I guess to put the link in, but once done it's done permanently.  I'd be happy to accept 10% of any licensing revenues 😁😁😁😁

Hahahaha what a deal @DrEvil almost too tempting for Deezer even! Gotcha. I'll discuss this with our devs. It looks like something we need investigating

Playback speed for songs too! ?? I would love to be able
to edit the playback speed just like youtube?

Thanks for making your contribution here @Sergi.Sanz

Glad you like the idea! Where have you been by the way? All good?

Does this feature still exist?   Where are the settings to change your playback speed, please?

This feature should be for all audio, not only podcasts.

This is immensely useful for musicians.

I would like change speed of music also. Would it be possible. Anytune app make possible with spotify but not deezer… i may change to Spotify for this. Because its a very insteresting feature. But i love deezer… sniff

Same for me.

I have to go to Youtube to change playback speed, which sucks considering i have a Deezer subscription with a big offline library, lots of playlists, etc.

@Leila.

Love this feature on on the app! When is it coming to the browser version? I like to use the browser during work because my phone is WAY too distracting.

:small_blue_diamond: What’s your favorite speed?

I usually stick with 1.5x, but on my podcast app I can adjust by the tenths which is nice.

:small_blue_diamond: Do you prefer it to be on the player or in a menu?

Player for quick and easy adjustments.

:small_blue_diamond: Would you like your setting to be saved (always on until you switch it off)?

Saved!

Love it! I don't have much patience for podcasts, but just now I really wanted to listen to one and I really wanted to spend less than its 44 minutes at it.

I like to use speeds between 1.5x and 2.0x.

I liked the button on the player, but I didn't like that it goes up to 3x. An idea would be the possibility to set up a range in a menu and that range would define the users options when they click the button on the player. Say I would establish a range from 1 to 2 in the menu. Than my button default would be 1 and as I click it it would change to 1.25, then 1.5, then 1.75, then 2, then back to 1. Someone else could keep the range from 0.25 to 3, then they would get all these options clicking the speed button on the player.

And I'd prefer the button to be reset to 1 each podcast I load.

Great job! Thanks!
