Anyone working for Deezer can explain why my android app keeps crashing since your major release (the one with the new branding)?

I've noticed performance issues for a while but the frequency now makes me reconsider my decade long loyalty for Deezer…

Any idea? My app is obviously up to date, with available storage and such…

The official support has provided me with another option to explore. So far it seems to be working.

 

The power saving settings might have been killing the app while it ran in background. That silly 🥲

Can you tell us what you have tried so far? I'm also using Deezer on 2 Android devices and don't have any crash issues.

I tried the classics (reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, restarting the device), not sure what to try now...

folks here are happy to try to help, as shown by ​@awesomemac responding to assist you.

that said, remote diagnoses of tech-related issues are challenging enough, but especially so without helpful information.

here you have only provided that your android app is “crashing” and has been doing so since the rebrand (which was a year and a half ago).

if you would like assistance, I would suggest providing more information.

suggestions to include:

  • Symptoms: What specifically is happening? (e.g., freezing, error messages, slow performance) 
  • Error Messages: If any, what do they say? 
  • Recent Changes: Were there any software updates, hardware additions, or changes in settings other than the rebrand? 
  • What was the user doing when the problem occurred? 
  • What did the user expect to happen, and what happened instead? 
  • Replicability: Can the problem be consistently reproduced? 
  • Scope: Is it isolated to one device, or does it affect multiple devices or the network? 
  • Environment: What software and hardware are involved? 
  • System Information: Version of the operating system, drivers, and software

What was the user doing when the problem occurred? listening to music, screen off

What did the user expect to happen, and what happened instead? music stopped because the app crashed

Replicability: Can the problem be consistently reproduced? I really can't figure out how

Scope: Is it isolated to one device, or does it affect multiple devices or the network? This device

Environment: What software and hardware are involved? Xperia 5 III

System Information: Version of the operating system, drivers, and software Android 13

@RoMX ok so an older budget phone, running an older android version (android 15 is newest), occasionally having a non-reproducible crash, over the last year and a half?

It used to happen once or twice a month max, yesterday it happened 20 times at least, hence this conversation...

Hello ​@RoMX it is hard to explain if this only happens in a specific mobile device, which makes me think that the problem could be related to the device and not the app itself. However, could you please provide more information? Does this happens randomly or while listening to Flow, Favourites, Playlists, etc? When the app crashes, it just close and you need to open Deezer again? Have you tired to updated your Android OS to the latest version and try again?
