add to queue not functioning correctly

The add to queue function keeps behaving like the play next function.

I'm listening to an album, I want to queue the next album to start when the one I'm listening to finishes but it just puts the next album right after my current song.

I can click add to queue or play next and they both behave in the same exact way.

They might be trying to design a queue system that works kinda like Spotify’s one. A friend of mine had to explain it to me as it is very unclear for users, but the system itself could be nice, it kinda works like this:

  • You can play a playlist (or maybe an album, not sure it applies too) and it will go in queue
  • You can add tracks/albums (and maybe playlists, not sure) to a sort of priority queue that will play over the normal queue
    • Either push to the front of the priority queue (Play next)
    • Or push to the back of the priority queue (Add to queue)

I hope Deezer figures out a better system than what’s live right now and Spotify’s one, save the album listeners!!!

I have been a Deezer user for ~15 years almost exclusively for the add to queue + play next functions.

If it really has been a volontary change towards Spotify’s convoluted and less powerfull system, I don’t see why I would stay with Deezer anymore.

Also, I will be very sad.

Cheers,

Hi @Bffsalready 👋

This sounds like the expected behaviour with the new Queue design.

When a user selects “Add to Queue” and you add a track to your queue, Deezer places it before the rest of your current playlist, album or mix continues. This means the track you add will play soon, instead of being added to the very end of the full list.

For example:
If a user is listening to an album and selects “Add to Queue” on another track:

  1. The current track finishes.
  2. The newly added track plays.
  3. Deezer then continues with the remaining tracks from the album.

So, the track is not added to the very end of the entire queue.

I hope this helps! 🙏

AKA exactly what “Play Next” does.
