Deezer's internal scrobbling sends scrobbles up to 5+ hours late since this Monday. Every day since that has always been a delay.

What's going on? Since the year started, there has been a lot of interruptions with Last.fm and it has become super annoying. It even makes me consider switching Deezer for another platform if this continues or becomes the new normal.

I’m so desperate that I’m literally begging someone to look into this. Thanks.

On Linux, there’s a program called rescrobbled that can scrobble from any music player that uses MPRIS. On Android I use Pano Scrobbler. Both work perfectly with Deezer.

People are complaining also on last.fm forum. I’m currently using web-scrobbler (browser addon) as alternative, because native scrobbler didn’t work this week.

I personally had ~2 hours delay 3 days ago.

So, there are alternatives as temporary solution:

  • web-scrobbler
  • open scrobbler

Still, I guess there are some users who cannot use web-scrobbler for some reasons.

Last.fm is important part of listening music, especially for someone who is listening a lot of albums daily and need to know on which track he ended listening or he is listening the whole discography of someone and need to check what was listened in the past, etc. At least, for me these are main reasons.

Hello everyone. When will the problem with scrobbling of different versions of tracks be fixed? When I listen to a live version of a track or a remix or an acoustic version of Last.fm scrobbling it as the original version. I saw that this topic was discussed here a year ago, but the problem has not been fixed. 😢 Can we expect a fix it soon? 🙄

The scrobbling is not working, I already configure my last.fm account multiple times and yet the tracks don’t go to my last.fm profile.

Can someone help?

Hi @rodrigo.escudero.4, thank you for your message
Indeed, this is a known issue with the scrobbling option in Deezer.
Please refer to the FAQ on the Last.fm support forum for a workaround using external scrobbling apps.

Additionally, you have the option to edit incorrect scrobbles in your library and enable the auto-edit feature. This way, the next playback of the same song should not encounter issues.

For me the internal Deezer scrobbling works fine at the moment with the web player, so there is no general problem with it. Is the Last.fm logo in your Sharing Preferences setting in red or greyed out? Are you a family member perhaps and not the account owner?

Thanks @bluezzbastardzz, indeed for me it works well too… sometimes a bit of delay updating the recent played tracks but we can live with that.

@rodrigo.escudero.4 What I was referring as a known issue, and I forgot to mention, is that when tracks have special characters, Last FM don’t get those tracks played on Deezer.

Example - When a album have "+" or "&" Last Fm don't scrooble it.

Also another limitation  is that sub profiles of Deezer Family accounts can't be linked to Last FM. Just the Admin

I realized that deezer/lastfm is not scrobbling on desktop anymore, only on the mobile app. What had happened?

Hi @Analuz, I checked your account and everything looks fine so it could be related to your Windows Desktop App.

Please make sure that your Windows System is up to date,  antivirus software is not blocking/limiting Deezer in any way, the energy saving option for Deezer is deactivated and Deezer is installed in the default location (not moved manually).

Then please uninstall the Deezer App, delete temp files (Windows Button -> Search “Delete Temporary Files” -> Remove files), reinstall the app and try again.

If the previous proceder doesn't solve your problem, please  provide me with the following details:

-Windows version and build ID (Settings -> System -> About -> Windows specifications)
-Screenshot of energy saving options (Settings -> System -> Battery)
-Check which Deezer Version is installed
-Antivirus software you are using
-Audio and graphic adapter driver dates and adapter names

Yesterday the internal Deezer scrobbling option was lagging for a few hours, so no new scrobbles were shown on your Last.fm profile. It took a while to submit the queued scrobbles then, but today scrobbling is working normally again.

Hi,

I tried scrobbling and it says that my account is linked but I nothing is appearing on last fm. It says I have no songs. Did I miss a step? How can I scrobble?

What is your Last.fm username? Is the Last.fm logo in the Deezer Sharing Preferences in red or in grey? Are you a Deezer Family member perhaps?

My username is jilenendiaye . The logo is red, I am not a Deezer family member.

I see that you are scrobbling now, do you use Deezer for that?

I was scrobbling from Deezer all day, so at least there is no general problem with the internal scrobbling option in Deezer.

This thread was linked on last.fm’s website to report issues with Desktop App scrobbling. I just started my trial of Deezer Premium today. I connected Deezer to my last.fm account through the web player like instructions said. Played several songs, none of them showed up on my last.fm profile. I disconnected and reconnected, still happening.

Being able to scrobble the music I play on both desktop and mobile is an absolute must-have for me as is using a native desktop app and not being stuck with a web player (I’ve confirmed scrobbling DOES work from there).  I’m interested in leaving spotify for Deezer, so...I need to know how to make scrobbling on desktop work.

Can anyone help? I’m on Windows 11, using Deezer 6.0.80.

It won’t let me edit my comment for some reason, so I’m just going to quote it.
I reached out to Deezer Support. They asked me to check several settings (make sure Windows is up-to-date, Antivirus not blocking Deezer, energy saving option disabled, and that it’s installed in the default location), then to try uninstalling and reinstalling.
The next steps after uninstalling included giving them some info about my drivers and windows version - so I updated all of my video and sound drivers, uninstalled deezer, restarted my PC, and reinstalled deezer, and now it’s working!
Not sure why the clean install wasn’t working from the jump but I’m just glad this got sorted. Hopefully if someone else is having the same problem they’ll see this and it’ll help. Hopefully.

As far as I remember, Deezer’s internal scrobbling option wasn’t working correctly around that time and was simply lagging several hours with submitting the scrobbles to your Last.fm account, so probably it was coincidence that it started working for you again after reinstalling. This lagging occurs from time to time, and the only thing you can do in this case is wait.

For the past few days, scrobbling has a 24/36 hours delay before the tracks I listened to appear on Last.fm. Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Yes, a known issue with Deezer’s internal scrobbling option, see e.g. this thread on the Last.fm support forum:

https://support.last.fm/t/no-scrobbeling-after-hours-using-deezer/106942/39

There is a workaround with external scrobbling apps, but you will get duplicate scrobbles with wrong timestamps then, so you should disable the internal Deezer scrobbling until it works properly again.

Many thanks! Was not aware of this ongoing discussion on the Last.fm support forum. Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon.

I am not sure the delay is a reason for the current issue.

My last scrobbles are now older than 48 hours, they just stopped dead from one moment to the next.

Isn’t it possible to fix these issues? What is the reason for this?

Even my really really old foobar2k scrobbler plugin works immediately and can scrobble “special” characters (these are rarely special, I assumed at first you meant exotic unicode glpyhs).

Same here. This huge delay is indeed a consequence of a technical issue that needs to be fixed yet. Hopefully it will be the case very soon, as this has been going on for a week already. Another week and I will probably go and see if the grass is greener elsewhere.

I am answering you here, because this thread is more suitable than the other one, where it was about some option being absent :)

The delay, if it is merely a delay, is now longer than 72 hours. In any case, this issue should be addressed by the Deezer support team.

Using external solutions is not an adequate alternative, as you have to install it to for each platform and invite additional dependencies and maintenance effort.
