Our Deezer Next Artist for the month of June⦠Paris Paloma
Ever heard about her?
Paris Paloma, the enchanting singer-songwriter from the countryside of Derbyshire, UK, crafts her music with inspiration from mythology, art history, and the Romantic era. Her music explores themes like female fury, grief, love, death, and power, all wrapped up in an ethereal sound that fuses dark-pop, folk, and indie vibes.
βI started playing music in my teens, before then I was doing creative writing. I thought I was gonna end up being an author and write novels. At some point those stories turn into songs and that felt like a much more immediate and authentic delivery of the stories I had in my head, and my favourite way to get inspired when writing songs is to sort of go out into nature and think about the world Iβm building out of my mind because music has always been a coping mechanism and emotional outlet for meβ, she told us while in Paris.
Imagine a mystical blend of alternative magic! She made her debut with the single "Narcissus" in September 2020, followed by the EP Cemeteries and Socials .
Since then, Paloma has been on a roll, dropping hit after hit, including "Underneath" (2021), "Cradle" (2021), and "The Fruits" (2022). However, it was her feminist anthem "Labour", released on March 23, 2023, that really brought her widespread attention, going viral on social media before its official release, climbing up on the Top 100 singles chart.
Paris Paloma visited us in our HQ in Paris and amazed us with a beautiful live version of her track βboys, bugs and menβ, followed by a cover of "Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" by Colter Wall
