My iPad/iOS does not have that problem, but here comes the strange part - I just installed Deezer on my Android tablet, and the the problem appear on that tablet, too!
Looks like and Android issue, and it has stopped me from upgrading crom the free version to the premium version of Deezer
Deezer may play one song and stop playing music. This might happen if you have switched battery saver mode on on your device. Antivirus software may also cause Deezer to stop playing music. These types of features and applications may cause problems with AutoPlay or any apps running in the background.
I don't play music, Deezer never let me get to that point. Let's say I look up the band Cheap Trick. The I want to listen to their compilation album Sex, America, Cheap Trick. When I click on that album, Deezer jumps to the start/front page of Deezer. When I do it againg, then the moment I click on the album Deezer crashes. It happens on my two Android devices, but not on my iPad
It’s so strange. I’m using the Deezer app on an iPhone, Android phone, Android tablet and even on a Chromebook. No issues here. I’m really curious what the problem could be.
My Android phone and tablet are with Android 12 and my Chromebook Android 11, yours maybe Android 13?
I have an ongoing case with Deezer support, but I thing they don’t take it seriously. Despite that there are many other Android users having problems witch crashing app.
My phone is Sony Xperia V III with newest Android 13.
The Deezer app is also the newest (7.1.3.104)
There is plenty of memory and storage place and batery usage is set to Unrestricted. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting the phone and many more...
It started with crash when I wanted to listen to new releases, but app crashes also when I want to open some albums from search or from my favourites.
Today I noticed that app crahses when I want to open the album site, from the song I’m listening to (try f.x. Distorted Light Beam by Bastille).
In fact, I have experienced this issue already in april (?) when I was on beta-version. Than I thought, that it’s just a bug in the beta version (which I repported to deezer). They couldn’t “reproduce” the problem, so I switched back to release version.
It looks like they just released the bug to all users some time later.
I’m a premium user for almost 10 years but I’m very close to give up and switch to something else…
Hi @Tomasz@Christina Sangiorgio Galli@isteen indeed we have similar reports from other users, most of them using Android 13, some 12. For that a big chunk of them are using Samsung devices.
Our developers are aware of this issue and trying to to tackle it. But no main cause was yet found.
We thought the main cause of the crash’s can come from the new features introduced in Android 13 on optimization of the battery. And this already comes from previous versions. Check here - https://dontkillmyapp.com/samsung
So we are asking to our Samsung users to try this:
1) - Open your phone settings > Applications > Deezer - Check that Remove permissions if app is unused is disabled. If it's enabled, disable it. 2) - Open your phone settings > Applications > Deezer - Select App Battery Usage (you may need to tap on Advanced Settings to find it) > Unrestricted - Open Deezer, then test a playlist
If the issue continues, do as follows:
Open your phone settings > Battery and Device Care
Tap on Memory > Excluded apps > + > Deezer > Add
Restart your phone
Open Deezer, then test a playlist
But if you are using other brand phone with Android 13, you can try this:
Can you please follow all these steps:
Open your phone settings > Applications > Deezer
Select Battery (you may need to tap on Advanced Settings to find it) > Unrestricted
Open Deezer, then test a playlist
For some users, the crash seems to be connected to specific albums with special characters when they perform a search and open an album.
Would be great to hear from all of you with some more inputs about this, share some videos and always with that - version of Android, version of Deezer, brand and model of the phone impacted.

Did not solve the problem on my Samsung A54.
Sorry, but I am going with another service than Deezer
As a matter of fact I am a software developer and was also worked with Android apps.
In my case I can clearly see, that the app crashes when I wanto to open an album page for some albums.
I connected my phone to the PC and could use Android Studio to see the app activity. I can see, that there is a nasty exception in the app, when I try to open f.x. “At Your Worst (Acoustic)” by Calum Scott from the Notifications.
Attached are screenshots with the error message. There is something wrong with the date conversion.
I hope it can help with the debugging.
Feel free to contact me, if you need more details. I hope you can fix the problem, as I think Deezer is still the best music streaming app and don’t want to switch to something else - but I’m very close to do it…

Please give this man i cigar.
It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
A user without any connection with the company, telling the company what the problem really are.
Makes me think if the company really has put any efford into the problem.
This problem is not specific for Android 12 or 13.
I have experienced this problem on three devices: Motorola Moto E20, Nokia 6.2, Huawei PSMART 2019 and Lenovo TB-7306F (tablet). All running Android 11, all updated.
All with sufficient disk space. I am also on the brink of finding another streaming provider, that is able to create a working Android app.
Neither is it specific for any particular “records”. I seems to happen randonly, and the latest “records” that couldn’t be opened was “Tænder på et kys” and “Svenske spor” by Alberte.
I have the same issue - app keeps crashing. Have done all of the above, and reinstalled and uninstalled several times too - now my app crashes and I cannot see any pictures, they’re just black boxes.
I noticed that many of us here is from Denmark, including me.
From my developer experience I know, that the error that keeps the app crashing (conversion of date, mentioned i my mrevious post), can have a lot to do with the system language.
So I changed default language on my phone form Danish to English and… YAY!!! Everything is working!
I can open all albums! No more crashing!
I switched back to Danish, and… surprise surprise… the app is crashing again!!!
I don’t know if Deezer is still reading this thread, but I hope so. @Leonídia.Deezer can you pass this information to your development team, please? Can you finally fix the app???
Switching language is not a solution - mayby a temporarily workaround.
And I’m trying hard not to express my honest opinion about Deezers testing and development team.
And I don’t expect any gratifications for this. I want my app back!!! ;)
