Be able to see other followers / fans of favourite artists to discover new music

It would be great to be able to see the followers of the artists we listen to. In order to follow them and discover more music related to ours.
Maybe it does not do much with popular artists, but for contemporary classical music and other oddities it would be very useful.
-----------------------------------------

Hi @Alejandro Ortega, Thanks a lot for this idea! 🙌🏼 As for now it's intended not to show the followers but I understand your points and agree that it would be great to find people who share the same interest as you (just like our community) ☺️

We will keep an eye on your idea to see how many members agree with you and vote for your idea! We will also let the tech team know!

I have created many Playlists. On my My Music home page I click on a certain Playlist. It shows underneath my Playlist Description that I have a "Fan." In other words, there is another Deezer member who has "Favorited" or "Added" my Playlist. However, I do not know who the member is who has Added my Playlist. We used to know before Deezer Web Site was updated. Now we don't. Please bring back the feature where we know who Favorited or Added a Playlist. Cheers.

HI @oldrecord so sorry for the very late reply. We are slowly making our way through this forum.

I have moved your topic to this existing one, so that we have an overview of all votes in this one topic.

Thanks a lot for your cool feedback, we really appreciate it!

Thanks Flo. Your follow up and concern is awesome. Deezer is just the best. Take care, God bless.

Would definitely like this feature. I have a playlist which has 32 fans and it’d be nice to see what sorts of playlists that fans of my playlist have.

Totally agree with the thread starter. When this feature still existed I found so many great artists by looking up fans of albums / playlists / artists I liked.
I mean, I am the last person who is ignorant towards privacy issues, but:
  • Nobody is forced to register with his or her real name publicly visible
  • Profiles already can be set to private, so that nobody else can see its contents. Those profiles could automatically be excluded from the feature.
  • Finally: If you are extremely privacy concerned, registering to any kind of cloud service or (kind of) social media isn't a good idea, anyway.

Hi Alejandro, it was cool to read your comment on here. I was thinking about this too some time ago. However, when I thought about how many followers an artist would have, I decided it was not a good idea after all. Some artists may have thousands of followers, so we would have a huge list to look at!
Plus probably for Deezer too it's a big ask.
So glad you could contribute to the Forums. Take care .. Cheers. ☺️🌻

Hi oldrecord,

although your comment wasn't directed at me, I still wanted to point two things out:

Plus probably for Deezer too it's a big ask.

This was actually an EXISTING feature that was intentionally withdrawn for no good reason.

Some artists may have thousands of followers, so we would have a huge list to look at!

It was an especially helpful and cool feature for people who, like me, also like artists that are not that popular. Found much great music this way and especially playlists typically don't have so many "fans".

Hi Flo … so cool to read your reply. I never realised that it was once a feature of Deezer ,, Yeah, that's so true, if an artist was not so popular, the list would not be so big after all.

So cool to talk … Cheers,, and take care.. 🙂🌻

Up.

That used to be nice feature. The first I noticed that a complete stranger was fan a playlist of mine, I went on the profile and looked at what the person listened to. I ended-up discovering new artists that I now listen to regularly (Black Tartan Clan!)

To oldrecord's point it's particularly useful for artists not very popular (yet) or more confidential genres.
It would be really cool if this was brought back.

Wow, a related thread where I haven’t mentioned Last.fm yet!  That site shows e.g. your neighbours on your Last.fm profile, i.e. other users with a similar taste of music. Also you can check the top listeners of an artist/album/track on their related Last.fm pages, also the users you follow in a separate tab. Last but not least you can set your “Obsession” for one week, i.e. your favorite track that you cannot stop listening at the moment, and then check who else has or had the same obsession.

Luckily Deezer has an internal scrobbling option which means you can connect both accounts in your Deezer “Alerts & Sharing” settings, and then everything you listen to on Deezer will automatically be listed on your Last.fm profile and also used for personal recommendations.

So, still nothing?

Not yet @Adrik O'Sangster

But we're gathering all your feedback to make improvements in the near future - especially on Social Sharing

On the trial at the moment, but this feature would push me to join permanently!

Nothing has come close to Rdio since it shutdown. Deezer is tantalizingly close.

Rdio was easily the best interface I’ve seen in this game, and being able to follow any user (unless they choose to be private of course) was the best thing for finding new music. Would be even better if it showed a taste similarity indicator like LastFm. At the moment I use LastFm for this purpose, but it would be great to have one integrated system.

Don’t care about sharing with facebook etc, just want to be able to follow other users who listen to similar music I do and then generate stations based on either individuals or all people I follow, their favs, new obsessions etc. More options the better. Cheers!

Hey there @rapidobear

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback, we really love these.

The good news is that we have teams working on magnifying the social part of Deezer, it's a big project for us at the moment. Once I have more info to share with the community, you'll hear about it here :v_tone2:

One more vote for this feature.

Although, I am a bit concerned about the fact that this discussion is two years old. What does it take to get the attention of people who could make this happen? :(

I get why you'd feel that way @redcatateabat, of course. But Deezer's changed a lot in the last couple of years, including how developers see our community and organise/structure their plans for improvements. We're an essential part of their planning for a while now, and that's why you see things like Dark Mode, Gapless, independent logins for Family profiles, etc. It's just that all ideas fall into a list, a backlog, and every quarter we plan what we can do with what we have. Thank you for your vote and understanding :v_tone2:

@Rudi  Thanks for your reply! I understand that there is probably a great lot of new functional features being tested, voted for and implemented as we speak.

Similar to others in this thread, I love Deezer’s algorithm for finding new music, and I believe this feature would be a great addition to that.

Here’s to hoping we’d get it someday. :) Cheers!

Thank you for your understanding @redcatateabat :relaxed:

Music discovery is something that we're very keen on, so the good news is that we'll continue to improve it - I'll be forwarding your comments on :v_tone2:
