Hello everyone,

I signed up for Deezer a few months now and initially I had signed up through the app on my phone and noticed that Google play store charged me $1.03 extra for using their platform, so I came on here to ask for help. Someone said to cancel and then wait until the end of the month to repay but to use the website to pay there, which I did but I kept the app on my phone. I recently noticed that I got charge by Deezer $12.11 and then google charged me $1.03 extra, which I am assuming was for using their platform to use the app?  I guess I am trying to clarify, should I just use the website directly on my phone to avoid getting charged more? I don’t know how others use Deezer but now it seems, I might have just kept the original way to pay for the app because now I feel I am being charged slightly more. This is so frustrating. Thank you in advance!

No, Google does not charge you to use their platform, just a surcharge when you subscribe through the Play Store (Apple does the same thing through the App Store).

You need to do what was described to you. You need to cancel the subscription through Google Play, let it completely lapse (just for a day).

You will drop to Deezer Free if it's available then your area (or you will no longer be a subscriber), and then resubscribe directly through the deezer website. I would probably just do that on your laptop or PC, to avoid going through Google at all.

Best of luck and enjoy your music.

Thank you! I don't think I let it lapse, so I will try that. But would I still be able to use the app by having it downloaded from Playstore on my phone or would I have to use the website on my phone to hear music?
