With a huge presence in 180+ countries, Deezer is now more global than ever! :globe_with_meridians:

Are you missing home? Want to discover a new culture based on their music? :ferris_wheel:

Our new Country Selector is the answer. Travel around the world through the Deezer app with this exciting new feature and enjoy music recommendations from across the globe.

Let’s say you’re from the UK, but now live in Dubai. You don’t really want to be recommended content from the UAE, but from the UK. You now have the option to change that

How does it work? :iphone:

Go to Favorites > Settings, and access “Country selector” to change your recommendation country from a dropdown menu full of beautiful flags (mobile or web)

Can I change my country of recommendation as much as I want? :alien:

Yes, absolutely. You can be one day in France, the next one in Germany and a week after in the UAE.

Will changing my country of recommendation affect the language I’ve set my app to? :writing_hand_tone2:

No, don't worry. You can change your country of recommendation to Germany but still use your app in French.

If you have any other questions, feel free to check our support article here :bulb:

So what are you waiting for? Get your passport ready and pack your bags to travel with Deezer app from today! :airplane:

I can see how some users gonna benefit from this feature . I probably won’t use it too much though . Nice addition to already improved service .

It will be great have option “World wide” or “The Earth” to get recommendation from all places

Great update to the service! :)

but… this is not what I was asking for…I was asking for a way to categorize
the whole Deezer catalog by languages..a way to write in the search bar
#spanish and only see Spanish music...
.

This is incredible news considering the local content and playlists are terrible.  Thanks for opening access! 💚

This is a great feature! Thanks for adding this :dancers:

Thank you all for your great feedback, the teams will be happy!

@Sergi.Sanz what you've requested is different. And still a very good idea, but related to Search (different teams, who are also working on improving Search) :thumbsup_tone2:

This is too good

Thankssss

I thought you'd like it @Mr. Jahrami

After getting the Flow cards to the MENA region, this was the next best thing we were working on :thumbsup_tone2:

This is a nice addition!

I'm interested in how it works from a legal standpoint. I thought that some tracks were unavailable in some countries because rights had not been granted? But I can circumvent that problem by manually selecting the country?

And what happens if I'm in a country where Deezer is not currently available?

It doesn't change rights, @Jim Barton, but the recommendations you get across the app - they reflect the country that you choose. And you can only select a country we have recommendations for

Hello, I thoght this would help the people living in the countries where podcasts still aren't available, but as you said that's not what it is for.

So I would like to ask when podcasts will be available in the rest of Europe and if you could add a “global” option to this country selection for those who want the best from every place?

We don't know when podcasts will be available in some countries, but we're working on it!

Some very important addition to this is that some countries need to be split up also!
I live in Belgium (the flemish part). But for example in the podcasts I get 95% of french podcasts … which I really don’t care :)

Some other countries have the same I guess. Like Switzerland for example.

Very good point @dupondje

I'll be forwarding your feedback to the teams working with the tool, straight away! Thank you for supporting Deezer :v_tone2:

I use a vpn and because of that, deezer won’t stop giving me songs that sing in spanish. i don’t speak it and it’s honestly triggering for me because i left spotify because of its bugs. my country is set to the US and now nothing changes with the vpn off

Hey @Jackedward

Check the feature mentioned above, please :sunglasses:

Hey @Jackedward

Check the feature mentioned above, please :sunglasses:

i don’t think you realize that doesn’t fix literally anything. i had to disable my vpn and if i ever accidentally use it, i get spanish suggestions. the country selector should have a language bias, that of which it doesn’t depending on country. this is just about the only purpose for a country selector, so i’m disappointed to see this is all you can reply with

@Rudi

Sorry you feel that way @Jackedward I'll pass on your feedback. I'm happy to help you further if I have more details.

In the meantime, please bear in mind that Deezer doesn't recommend the use of VPN's while streaming on our service.

Are you experiencing Spanish songs in which part of the app? Is this on Flow (your recommended content)? Do they show up on the homepage? Is this happening on different devices?

Let me know and I'll do my best to find a solution for you. Have a nice weekend!

I think it would be good to realize that a country is not the same as a language. As mentioned above, in Belgium we have three language groups. Yes, one could change the country setting, but that’s not the same. If I were to change my country to “the netherlands”, I would get Dutch recommendations (with a focus on Dutch content from The Netherlands) and that’s a completely different thing than Belgian recommendations in Flemish (aka Belgian Dutch). I can assure you, that IS a different story.

So, yes, I would recommend the team to work on a language preference that is tied to a geographical preference.

Right now, even though my language is set to ‘dutch’ and my country to ‘belgium’ I only get podcasts in French, even when I type in a Dutch/Flemish word in the search bar.

This could make a huge difference.
