Hi there,

I am looking for a standalone speaker that will play Deezer playlists and mixes natively without a phone or other device constantly streaming. E.g. after starting a stream I want the controlling device to go away / shut down / do something else without stopping the stream. I also want this without requiring another service like Google Assistant or Alexa. This I know this also rules out Chromecast and probably ApplePlay.

What I need is an indoor speaker suitable for a small-mid sized room. Besides Deezer it should play bluetooth. Are there any devices around in the < 300 USD range? I had a Bose SoundTouch 20 (SM2) which meets my needs exactly in terms of connectivity and sound quality. Their proprietary app has a good enough interface to Deezer. We have put our favorite playlists on the 6 hardware buttons and were happy. But sadly the line has been discontinued and there are no reasonable priced devices available in my region.

The closest device still sold seems to be the Sonos One SL. But that comes without bluetooth. Without the ability to stream any audio from a android device occasionally it is a deal breaker. I am happy to get a slightly “outdated” piece as long as it meets the requirements and is not abandoned by the manufacturer in terms of support and security updates.

Why no Google home etc? For one at my location Google home does not support Deezer. Besides I really do not like sharing my data to a 3rd party and on top get an even reduced functionality. I strongly believe having my data at Deezer and the manufacturer of the speaker is enough.

Thanks

@Snowplow

Hello,

imho your choice is good looking for a Sonos speaker. 😎

The Sonos Move and Sonos Roam are fitting your requirements. They both can be used as fixed and also as portable speakers. Both support wifi and bluetooth audio.
Deezer is well integrated on Sonos for using direct streaming over the Sonos API. For this the speaker uses the wifi connection to the router and can be controlled with the Sonos controller app as you‘ve been used with Bose.
And maybe Sonos voice control would be a second alternative for you to control the speaker. SVC is NOT a cloud based voice assistant. It’s working completely local on the speaker after once downloaded to the systems memory. It’s your choice to install or not any of the supported voice assistants or to activate the speakers microphones or not.

I use both models and the Sonos Move is the more bigger and more powerful speaker. It sounds great even for mid sized rooms.

Hi,

thanks for confirming that the Sonos would work. Unfortunately in my case the Sonos Move is to expensive. Even used or from the outlet it is a bit above the budget.

Does anybody know about the Audio Pro speakers? The ones that can be set up by the audio pro app could work I think. In the list I see the C5 and C10 which are also within budget. I purchased the smaller G10 from Audio Pro before. It’s the “updated” A10. Unfortunately it was fully managed by Google Home and thus not wotking with Deezes. Also i would like a bit ore power on the bass.

I could finally try an Audio Pro C10 unit. I can confirm that the C-series from Audio Pro works without requiring Google Assist, Alexa or anything else. It supports Bluetooth and in fact has pretty good sound. I can recommend it.

Amazing @Snowplow! Thank you for your feedback! 🤗
