Hi all,

Please all take to Samsung and deezer on twitter and facebook.

Samsung tried to blame corvid 19!

Let's keep them focused on this problem.

I originally went with Deezer because of a Samsung promotion when I brought the speakers (I had never heard of Deezer before), so Samsung got Deezer the business. I now have £2000 worth of speakers sat round collecting dust at the moment.

OMG, Stuart!

I thought I’d written that in my sleep, seriously!

I too ended up with over £2000 worth of paperweights after being coaxed by the Deezer promotion which worked OK until May 2018

For almost two years, I and many others had the dreaded “INTERNAL SERVER ERROR” and “SELECTED ITEM IS OUT OF RANGE”  error messages when trying to launch personal playlists created after May 2018, following the last firmware update by Samsung.

There is a long thread on the Deezer forums, dedicated to the issue and all the things good people who had spent a lot of their time doing the developer’s work, but ultimately without any result.

I’m a stubborn as a mule and have stuck with Deezer right up until last month, hoping they would sort this issue out, but even stubborn mules have a limit!

When I read about the log-in issue, I was still logged in to Deezer (in Multiroom) , but only one playlist created prior to May 2018 still worked and also FLOW (for all the good that is).

As an experiment, I logged out and guess what?  Log In error.

Now the reason I replied to your post was firstly because you are in a very similar position as myself after spending a shed load of money on something for the same reason (I’d never heard of Deezer before either, but it looked good), which is basically worthless without working streaming services.

Secondly, it was to tell my new tale of woe!

When I decided to quit Deezer altogether, I took out a trial of “Tidal HiFi” and IMHO, it is very good, despite being quite expensive @ £20 per month.

Everything was working fine and reminded me of a time when Deezer worked like that.

Then today arrived!  This morning started playing one of my discography playlists and it played fine and as normal.

Later today after working outside for a few hours, went to play another playlist and got an “Invalid Token” error message.

Logged out and tried logging back in “Invalid ID” error message.

So I changed the “Tidal” password via their website and tried logging in via Multiroom and the same error message again.

I have got a sneaky suspicion this may be a Samsung issue and maybe they are trying to slowly wind down the Multiroom app in favour of “Smart Things”, which is a big pile of bloated garbage in my opinion and does not work with Samsung R360 speakers.

Samsung Suck!

I am beginning to hate Samsung with a passion. They suck you in to purchase £££’s of their equipment, then after a period of time stop all support rendering them useless.

I have a houseful of their speakers and a large screen flat tv which are effectively now unusable.

The only reason why I keep reading this thread is to find out if it ever gets fixed.

My money is on that it won’t.

Hello Gary,

It was nice talking to you earlier and again I do apologise that you are experiencing issues with using Deezer within the Samsung Multiroom app. As a music fan myself I can understand how frustrating this must be. This issue is not related to your Samsung devices but more to the Multiroom app itself. The problem can be fixed with a future software update.

I have just escalated this issue with the HQ and hope they will release a fix soon for this functionality between Deezer and the Multiroom app.

In the meantime feel free to contact the developers directly emailing multiroom@samsung.com

I hope you will be able to enjoy your music without any issue as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Thanks, @Ripperoo and all for your patience and feedback. We're working on getting this clarified with Samsung. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused :v_tone2:

Rudi please stop these shit messages…. Sorry for my french…

You are the community manager and you should open the right doors for all of us frustrated users of Deezer/Samsung. But you haven’t or done anything at all to help us out. - Quite like the playlist problem…

It really sucks!!

@Rafael. would be nice if we get some more information with regards to this issue. What is the current status? When is expected to be fixed? What is Deezer doing to guarantee stability going forward etc? Financially, will there be any compensation for not delivering as promised from either Samsung or Deezer? Why don´t the CEO of Deezer send out an e-mail to all subscribers apologizing for this and explain things?

Hi,
Yep. Still the same.
I can login and use deezer itself.
But can't use it via the Samsung multiroom as it continually advises ID or password is incorrect.
Cheers

This problem now only affects Deezer, but how long until it starts to affect the other providers.

It looks to me like Samsung have just abandoned their product and couldn’t care less.

I have the exact same problem. That makes 3 reports. Any solutions?

I also have recently had this issue and unfortunately if it isn’t rectified soon I will have to cancel my Deezer subscription as I only use it with my Samsung multiroom speaker set up.

I can see that the app version 4143 is from the 28. february 2020 and therefore I think this update is the problem…. Yes we are many there didn’t have the problem from back in february. But I think it’s because our devices automatic update the apps ongoing and this I think can take a while…

The last update before 4143 is from december 2018. So this can be a very scary future we look into, if we want to get Deezer to work with Multiroom and if the problem lies with Samsung…..

I tried old version of the app (found .apk from version 4138 - from dec 2018), but with same issue..

Looking forward for Deezer support. Looks like something was changed with authentication protocols..

Hi Rudi,

when can we expect progress? right now we need two things:

  1. A confirmation that a fix will be implemented
  2. A commitment to an acceptable  timeline for the fix

given that neither product has significantly changed, this should be an easy fix - I.e. reverse the code change that broke this.

Hi Rudi…

All Samsung Multiroom users have had problems to use there playlists in about 2 years by now….

Would you please be honest and tell us, what have Samsung doing to resolve this problem?…. I’ll ask this way, because when I earlier have contacted Samsung regarding the playlist problem. I get the message that the problem must be within the Deezer’s code…

For me to be honest I think the problem is Samsung. But we cannot come any further with the playlist problem and now the ID issues, if we as a customers to Deezer and Samsung still accept we being toss from side to side…

Who should we as a customers to Deezer and Samsung Multiroom, let be responsible for these problems?

Userlevel 1

Negative confirmed. Tried to reinstall with clean all data of the app. No result(

Userlevel 2

Looks like the problem is back again for me. Was working until yesterday. Fails to connect complaining of no internet when there plainly is as other services work just fine. Once signed out it's impossible to log back into my Deezer account.

Hey @Higgi @Raun

It's a commercial partnership that we value, and we appreciate your frustration at the same time. For this reason, and before I replied here today, I've chased our partnerships team for a clear update. As soon as I get an answer, I'll get back to you all :v_tone2:

Any news on that?

Hi @maxelia, Samsung development teams are currently working on a fix.  are now aware of this issue and they are working to fix it soon. We'll keep you informed for any update.

What have you done in the meantime?

Months/years ago someone posted this (sounds valid):

So, I’ve just recently encountered the ID login error, now coming up without fail, making it impossible to use on my Samsung K950 soundbar. This is a bummer of note, as I used to use it to play FLAC’s from Deezer. I can still use bluetooth, but the quality is absolutely abysmal.

I’ve gone through all the loops of uninstalling, re-installing, rebooting & resetting all devices involved, as well as the password itself to no avail.

I did some more digging, and it turns out the Multiroom app doesn’t connect to Deezer (or any of the other integrations) itself. Instead, it simply sends instructions to the soundbar, which is meant to connect to Deezer. Thus, all the connection logic sits on the soundbar (which actually runs an Express HTTP server), and not in the app.

I used some packet capturing to inspect the flow of request/responses between the app and soundbar while trying to login to Deezer, and noticed that the error message that we get (incorrect ID/password) is probably not correct.

The response that the soundbar sends back to the app when I get the error is the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><CPM><method>SignInStatus</method><version>0.1</version><speakerip>192.168.0.104</speakerip><user_identifier>public</user_identifier><response result="ng">
<cpname>Deezer</cpname>
<timestamp>2020-05-07T22:33:43Z</timestamp>
<errmessage>No connection to Internet, please check it.</errmessage>
<errcode>71</errcode>
<category isroot="1"></category>
<category_localized></category_localized>
<root>Playlist Picks</root>
<root_index>2</root_index>
<root_localized>Playlist Picks</root_localized>
</response>

As you can see, the actual error message is “No connection to Internet, please check it.”, so it doesn’t seem like it even got as far as submitting the login credentials to Deezer.

What is odd, is that the soundbar definitely does have internet connectivity, as it can stream from TuneIn perfectly. Maybe that error message is also bugged.

I was going to say that this could hint towards a Deezer problem (maybe the authentication hostname was changed, or something to do with SSL certs).

But then I tried Tidal and also got the same error on the surface. The underlying response was a bit different though:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><CPM><method>SignInStatus</method><version>0.1</version><speakerip>192.168.0.104</speakerip><user_identifier>public</user_identifier><response result="ng">
<errmessage></errmessage>
<errcode>50</errcode>
<cpname>Tidal HiFi</cpname>
<category isroot="1"></category>
<root>New</root>
</response>

Since both Tidal and Deezer attempts result in the same surface level error, I think we can at least assume that the “ID or password is incorrect” message is some kind of generic catch all error message, and not necessarily a reflection of the validity of the provided login credentials.

All in all, this doesn’t solve the problem, but it does indicate that if the issue is on Samsung’s side, it isn’t in the Multiroom app, but rather in the speaker firmware itself.

If it is really a connectivity issue, that could explain why the error is sporadic for some people. It could potentially be some service that doesn’t always start up properly which is needed to facilitate communication Deezer.

For Deezer people, can you provide the authentication endpoint that the Samsung firmware is meant to hit?

So keep us updated, please.

I have signed-up a trial with Spotify in order to test Multiroom with another music provider and it works great. I hope that Samsung’s reply to Gazturner’s latest post comes to fruition soon - if not, I now have plan B. I will also send Samsung an email expressing my frustration with the Deezer issue.

Samsung are useless. Everything I’ve bought from them has broken or doesn’t work as it should. My Samsung TV now doesn’t support the apps I bought it for and now looks like their speakers are going the same way.

Exact same issue here.
Cant login to deezer.

Tried all the proposed solutions.
Nothing works.

Started acting up on us 3-4 days ago.

😞

Hey Rudi,
Yep, did that before I posted on this thread.
Changed password twice.
Uninstalled deezer and multiroom, re-installed both. Restarted mobile twice then fully powered off as well. No dice.
Seems to be a problem with multiroom app not linking to deezer correctly?
Cheers

For me it gives no meaning if Samsung “only” shuts down Deezer within the Multiroom app….. Still Deezer is the only Music streamer there is supported in the Samsung newer speakers with the Smartthings app?

It could be the Samsung Tech has it all wrong and was just fobbing off “JaneD” as they had no clue what she was on about.

That’s why it would be nice for the Deezer representative here to either confirm or deny this is the case.

I’ve no doubt “JaneD” explained the issue clearly to Samsung but some so called “Tech Support” are utterly clueless.

Some of them know less about the issues than the user sometimes because the user has spent a lot of time doing their own research, before contacting first line “Tech Support”, who, having no first hand experience with the tech in question, read from a script and default to just telling the user to reboot everything!

I just don’t think tech support realise that some people are clever enough to figure most things out and only get in touch with them as a last resort after everything else has failed and rebooted everything five times already.

Sorry to say. - But I’m still very scared that Samsung is about to phase out Multiroom…. The app doesn't support the newer smart home devices and apps….

But is it alright?…. No absolutely not!…. The Multiroom app is from 2014 and after many small problems, the first serious problem was the Playlist issue from 2018 (was never repaired) and since april 2020 we cannot use the app for Deezer anymore….. The last speakers Samsung sends on the market and there is supported by the Multiroom app is from 2017!…. This cannot be right and cannot be legal at all….
