Environment:

  • Windows 10 Pro
  • Deezer  desktop app 5.3.260.114 (and 5.3.270)

Expected behaviour:

  • I start Deezer
  • I can drag it within one of my screens or (if connected to other monitors) to other monitor.

Observed behaviour:

  • Once I start dragging (using the title bar), the application disappears (~ crashes / quits)
  • No  eventlog entries
  • No indicators of any issue in appdata/…/main.log

Already tried:

  • Reinstall / update
    • Removed the desktop app.
    • Installed latest version from site (5.3.260)
    • Once started, the main.log indicated that there was a new version and downloaded it.
    • After restart of the app, I had 5.3.270, but same problem persists
  • Posts on similar issues:
    • One post mentions crashes when moving to a separate screen.
    • One post mentions exactly the same issue on Windows 11

Issue already occurs since quite some time. Glad to pay for a subscription, but then please make sure issues like this one are fixed swiftly.

Best regards,

Johan

Hello @JohanQ

Thank you for sharing so many details, they are always useful.

We can not reproduce the issue unfortunately.

Could it be something related to your desktop settings?

Does this happen with any other app on your laptop?

@JohanQ

Tried to use another screen resolution?

Not as a solution but just to find the error. 😉

Hi Yula,

Thanks for your feedback. Looking at some other cases, it seems that I'm not the only one, but I can imagine it might be an infrequent issue and hard to reproduce.

I can't remember seeing it ever with other apps on this machine. Is there any additional debug logging that I might be able to activate? Or can I run a debug version on my system to provide you with the necessary input?

Best regards,

Johan

Hey @JohanQ

Maybe it's also the Electron framework with which the deezer app was created?
To find out, you could try another Electron app (see Wikipedia listing) and see if it crashes too.

Tried, but unfortunately, the same issue happens on whatever resolution. Only the built-in screen or with an external screen connected also does't make any difference.

I use several apps that are built on Electron, such as Teams, Github desktop, Crashplan, Visual Studio Code, etc. None of these exhibit the observed behavior.

Thanks for your suggestions guys!

@JohanQ

Can you try starting windows in safe mode/ compatibility mode and test again?

This way the standard device drivers should be used.
