World Emoji Day is an unofficial celebration of emoji lovers all over the world on 🌞 July, 17. The annual celebration is held to promote the use of emoji and emoticons.
The idea to create and celebrate this holiday originated in 2014 and belongs to Jeremy Burge. In doing so, he thought 17 July was the most obvious date for the holiday, as that number appears on the 📅 "Calendar" emoji supported on the iOS platform.
Then, in July 2014, Jeremy created a Twitter account called 🥳 "World Emoji Day" and declared 17 July as World Emoji Day holiday. The followers supported the idea and the first celebration took place. The event has been celebrated every year since.
