Led Zeppelin released their sixth album, Physical Graffiti, in the United States (the album released in the band’s native Britain four days later, on February 28). A double album, Physical Graffiti includes the tracks “Kashmir,” “The Rover,” “Houses of the Holy,” and “Trampled Under Foot.” What’s more, Physical Graffiti was the first title to be released on Led Zeppelin’s own label, Swan Song Records. The album cover features a photograph of apartment buildings located at 96 and 98 St. Mark’s Place in Manhattan’s East Village in New York City. In real life, the buildings have five floors; for the album cover, the photo was retouched to remove one of the levels because a four-floor building fits neatly on a square album cover.
