No way to start music from CarPlay screen/Music does not return after phone call
Here is a better explanation of the title. When I plug in my iPhone 13 Pro Max on software 15.3 Apple CarPlay starts. Selecting Deezer gives me no option to start playing music from the CarPlay screen. When using any music app in CarPlay one of two things should happen. Either your preferred music player should start playing automatically on connection or, you should see the Blue play button in the upper right corner of the CarPlay screen for you to actually start playing music. Deezer does neither of these two things. I have used about 5 different music streaming apps with CarPlay and all of them did one of the two options I gave above.
Is there a setting I have missed somewhere that prevents Deezer from doing this? Every time I get in my Jeep I have to open the Deezer app and start the music on my phone first before I will be given the option to control the music from the CarPlay app. I don’t typically listen to the Flow feature in Deezer. Also, when I listen to an artist on my phone, it does not show up in the recently played list when connecting to CarPlay. The list comes up but the most current things I have listened to are not listed.
If safety is a key feature of using CarPlay then maybe Deezer needs some extra work done. When I sometimes have to control my music from my phone instead of the Deezer app within CarPlay it really isn’t very safe.
My vehicle is a 2014 Jeep with an aftermarket Alpine ILX-W650. I love supporting apps that don’t see a lot of mainstream press and I want to continue supporting Deezer. I, along with lots of other users here would love to see Deezer fix the issues that really are crippling the experience within the app. I would be happy to provide more information on my experience if needed. Thanks!

Hey @Judd Bonham!
Very good point, I am reporting this for you.
Thank you @Yula. I appreciate your response. I love Deezer and the unique features it brings like Flow. I didn’t use Flow at first because it seems like all services have some kind of gimmick that plays likes and new music. Flow does a good job of mixing music I enjoy but it is not usually my first choice. I know everyone behind the scenes are working hard to make it the best service on the market and I look forward to any upcoming improvements.

Hi,
It’s not personally your fault, but we have been reporting on this bug since September 2021. We are now 6 months later, and your reply “Very good point, I’m reporting this for you”, seems to indicate that, up until now, Deezer devs were unaware of this dangerous issue. I don’t know how the flow of communication works within the company, but the sheer fact that it’s been 6 months (let me say that again: 6 months) and a solution is still not even remotely in sight…. It just makes me wonder. Doesn’t bode well for us CarPlay users.
Anyway, thanks for reporting the issue. Once this issue is fixed, I can finally rejoin Deezer.
Hey there @teaumaz and @Judd Bonham!
When I reported it I discovered it was a known issue and a fix is already available on the beta version of the app.
The issue was on apple side as well
So in the next version of the app the bug won’t appear anymore!

That’s great to hear. I do hope it finally gets fixed so I can rejoin!
Hi! Has there been progress on this issue? My Deezer app has updated multiple times since this post and this issue still exists. There are *multiple* issues with the CarPlay implementation and some seem like they might extend into all of the iOS behavior (no resume after a phone call when not using CarPlay, for example).
No improvement with carplay..
please fix first the existing problems with carplay before you add new features.
best regards

I can confirm it is still not fixed, @Yula We keep being promised a fix, and it’s not coming. In a few months, this bug will have been there for a year! Meanwhile I have tried Spotify, YT Music and of course Apple Music and none of these have the same issue.
Another version update and *sigh* it’s still not working. It’s been 9 months since I first reported this issue. *heavy sigh*
Hey there @teaumaz, on our side this has been tested and it results fixed!
Can you please tell me your ios version, deezer app and carplay version?

It’s still not working. I’m on iOS 15.5 and Deezer app 9.14.0. Carplay doesn’t have a “version”, it just comes with iOS, so it’s automatically the latest version. When I play music and then the GPS interrupts to speak driving instructions (or if I invoke Siri while playing music on Deezer) the music stops and the music panel shows “Not Playing” instead of the song (as you can see from the screenshot). It’s been like this since September 2021. It’s the same on my wife’s iPhone, btw.
Will test 9.15.0.2 now in test flight. There was a release which mentions a fix.

Fixed all issues for me.
I am using the latest Deezer app (just moved from Apple) and I have no way to start current music in the car play app. Is this right??
