Play all songs by one artist or all favourite artists

at least can someone explain, WHY deezer doesn’t want to implement this feature? they clearly don’t want to do this, otherwise it would be done years ago

Hi.. so, concerning this topic I’ve found this and another topic so far. The other one simply being feedback and seems “solved” by the reply “just add everything of one artist to a playlist - which is not a solution in my opinion.

General thoughts - Maybe open a new idea?

I don’t really understand why this is .. “for now” not gonna be implemented.

I first thought it’s partly implemented with the “Mix of my music” (or w/e its called in english) in the “Favorites” tab, but I’ve noticed it would likely only play songs I actually _added_ to any of my playlists, or that I “hearted”

I can imagine having a mix from _all_ favorite artists might be harder to implement than just a mix from _one_ artists - maybe I’m wrong, though.

Do you reckon it’s worth opening a new idea just for “Play ALL Songs from one Artist”? I’m tempted.

More background thoughts:

Not having this feature, or - when you search for an artist - having the “play” button only play top tracks becomes useless when it’s smaller, lesser known artists. Clicking on “play” just plays just that one song that’s more well known, while they have dozens of albums and songs.

Suggestion:

The best change on artist search would probably be, to have the “play” button play top tracks first (because I can see the use in this if youre searching for a band and checking them out the first time) but following this, all other tracks from this specific artist. It would only need to tell the algorithm to filter by this specific artist.

If you activate shuffle, it would immediately play other random songs from the artist, not only top tracks.

Moreover, you’d need to be able to access this option from the artist page as well. Maybe in the three dot menu “Play all songs by this arist” - since the “play” button there is occupied by the artist mix.

Such a shame that it is still not done… It would be enough just a shuffle button on the artist page. Just ridiculous.

I remembered why my previous two attempts to switch to deezer ended unsuccessfully after a few months. The lack of this feature is VERY annoying.

This is starting to drive me insane. Can we please get this feature?

I’ve got some options… 

“Mix” - which plays one song by the artist, and then shuffles barely relevant tracks from other artists.
“Top Tracks” - Which contains 4 of the 200 songs the artist published.
“Discography - Albums” - Have fun adding said 200 singles to a playlist.
“Discography - Featured in” - Oh right, gotta add those too…
“In your Favourites” - Honestly, just searching in favourites would be preferable…. it would be more useful if you took this and just listed ALL tracks, and I can see what is tagged as a favourite instead...

So, why can’t we just have a “Play discography” option that plays everything the artist has been involved in? The thing I like about Deezer is the fact that I don’t have to manage any playlists, the recommendations and mix are really good, but sometimes I just want to explore works by a new artist or a favorite artist and it’s painful.

It seems quite ridiculous to me how you’re genuinely unable to listen to an artist’s discography without manually creating playlists for each artist’s discography you want to listen to. There are multiple issues with this “suggested fix”:

1. Artists’ discographies vary from one or two albums to dozens upon dozens of albums, EPs, singles and features. Making playlists for every single artist whose music you want to listen to in an unfiltered way would genuinely take a lot of time. Most of us subscribe to streaming platforms to avoid unnecessary manual work and hassle, and this is quite literally the opposite of what is being desired.
2. Fine, let’s assume I put in the work to actually create playlists for all of my liked artists. Now I just have to… keep up with all of their releases in order to - once again - manually add them to each of my playlists? We cannot seriously be asked to not only create these playlists, but also keep updating them until the end of time, instead of just having a single button to shuffle through artists’ discographies on their page.
3. I know many of us want to get familiar with new artists by listening to a wide variety of their songs; not just one album or the most popular few songs. As someone who has recently switched from Spotify to Deezer, I feel heavily discouraged to discover and try out new artists because of this lack of a straight-forward feature. I really, really just want to be able to spot a new artist I’m interested in, listen to some of their discography and move on with my day. I certainly will not be making any playlists of discographies that I don’t even know whether I’ll like.

Seriously, please do add a button to the artist page which would allow the users to shuffle throuh the artist’s discography without relying on your userbase to make playlists of them. Me, my friends and my family have all been excited with various features of Deezer, but almost all of us have complained about the absence of this feature, as it was one we used on Spotify on a daily basis. Clearly the feature is a highly requested one on the forums as well - it would not be a waste of time.
