Hi @WishItalyWasReal @jeremiahlee I totally get where you're coming from!

Having an option to prefer the explicit versions when available would make the experience so much smoother.

Hopefully, the team considers this suggestion soon!

Thanks for adding your thoughts to the conversation.

I appreciate the prompt response Leonídia. While I imagine you don’t have a big say in what gets done by the dev team, it is nice to get a supportive reply! If there is a place for leaders to poke in though, I’d be very grateful for another mention if it’s been a while. It’s quite an old thread, maybe it just slipped through the cracks.

Im  currently trying to find an alternative to my old service and Deezer is at the top.  However this is potentially a deal breaker for me.  Is this really 6 years old (I’ve seen older Reddit posts too) and has no action taken on it?

Are we unlikely to see this implemented? How hard would it be to have a 3 way switch to have a don’t care option and then only clean and only explicit? Hearing a song pop up and then all the sudden it starts cutting out destroys the vibe.

Please for the love of god add this. I hate getting served censored songs constantly. I’ll probably end up canceling my subscription over it.

This is a great opportunity for Deezer to jump on. I hope they prioritize it soon.

This is my single biggest frustration with Deezer. I even have some custom playlists in which certain albums have been switched from the explicit version to the censored version without my consent. I then have to go through and manually delete all of those songs from my playlist. To re-add the explicit version of the album, I then search for the artist, navigate to their discography, and the explicit version of the album is not even displayed in the list. This is a terrible user experience.

Due to the fact that there are controls for filtering out explicit content, the logic required for a Prefer Explicit Content toggle clearly already exists within the code, it just needs to be exposed to users.

This 6-year old forum thread with hundreds of upvotes only represents the small fraction of users who took the time to create a community account and voice their opinion. There are likely many times more who have simply stopped using Deezer because of this without ever submitting a complaint. This is a relatively simple feature request, and the cost of software development is lower than ever. Please consider implementing this.
