Native Media player navigation for the web / allow media keys to work on Deezer Web

I've seen that with windows 10 you could add native pop ups notifications, I was wondering is it possible that you can add a feature that will use this pop ups to display the current track playing and/or help me navigate to the next or previous song on the playlist.

I've found my self lost in this space but have to find the window to repeat a track or skip some tracks that i don't like... its just a suggestion

I know that you can do this native pop ups with node js, but i think there can be a work around to have this. I just can imagine changing the track while typing this message without having to leave this page.

Thankx in advance

Regards O.o
Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully our devs will be able to implement it soon!

I was about to make a new post but then this was suggested! Almost made a duplicate.

Title:

Web player - add support for Media Session API

Description:

This means rich media notifications! Chrome for desktop also now has a global media controls button (an icon with a list and a music icon). When you provide metadata for the media, you get seeking and track changing, album art, titles, artists. Here are some relevant links:

and it’s something that Deezer’s main competitor, Spotify, has support for in their web player. But Spotify has removed features from their web player and is kinda why I use Deezer. Spotify does let you make a private listening session though which is suggested here: https://en.deezercommunity.com/features-feedback-44/private-from-flow-session-58434

Thanks a lot for these suggestions @raccoonsarecool I'll pass them on to the team who deals with our web version of Deezer

Thanks @raccoonsarecool, detailed info to clarify things for users too

Just following up from what @raccoonsarecool  said in his reponses I just want to add that adding support for the Media Session API would make it really nice to run Deezer in Chrome/Firefox/Edge. The added benefit is that I can then use other extensions that do things like:

  • Log my currently playing/listened tracks to Listenbrainz
  • Do things with IFTTT
  • Slack/Discord integration

This is sugar on top of making the media keys work without a browser extension. (P.S. Most of the browser extensions I’ve seen - that add support for media keys - don’t tend to work if you aren’t working in the browser window itself.)

TLDR: I’d be really excited if you did add this but it’s not a dealbreaker for me! I’ve been using Deezer for about 4 days now and I’m loving it!

Welp. It looks like you’ve already integrated it! I’m a Google Play Music refugee and I installed the extension a couple of days ago to help with exporting some rare MP3s before I switched to you folks at Deezer. Little did I know that the extension would get in the way of your integration!

<3 thanks folks!

Thanks for sharing your feedback and comments here @connrs

There's still a lot to do with the desktop app on the subjects you mentioned above - Discord, IFTT, Last.fm. And these features should get more traction at Deezer in the next few months - stay tuned :thumbsup_tone2:

Wait so does that mean that Deezer’s web player finally supports the media session API? I made that comment 6 whole months ago. Before the ‘rona.
