Give users a way to set and save their preferred album sorting method

Until recently the default sorting method for albums on the desktop app was by Release Date.  This makes sense as it put albums in an understandable order.  Now album sorting has changed to Most Played, which is terrible.

The dropdown menu to set the album sorting back to Release Date only persists until you click away to something else.  Then it resets to Most Played.  So you have to change it on every artist page that you visit, every time you visit, if you want to see albums in release order.  This is stupid and annoying for those of us that want to discover new music instead of being spoon-fed whatever is most popular.  What’s even worse is that the Android app does currently show albums in release order by default, so the Deezer experience is inconsistent across platforms.

SUGGESTION - Allow users to set their preferred sorting method in the app settings and save this setting so that it persists while browsing through different pages.

Agreed. I almost exclusively listen to albums and not once have I even thought about what the most played albums of a given artist are, let alone cared about it. Even sorting alphabetically by default would make (barely) more sense.

It would be nice if users could set their preferred sorting order globally, instead of having to do it every time they go view an artist’s discography or whatever else have you. At the very least, make the sorting order stick when changed, like it does in the tabs in the Favourites section/menu — not per artists, to be clear, but for all artists at once.

Hi @geo79 @Sandy Vujaković! Thanks for sharing this!

I’ve passed your feedback along to our technical team so they can check it out.

I’ll let you know if there are any updates.

Please, yes.
I don’t give a hoot what is the most played. I want to know what is new or I’ve missed.
Having to reset the sort every time you leave and return is infuriating beyond belief.
It should be simple to save the last selected option - there’s all sorts of unwanted cookies already. Btetter to have a user profile setting.  Deezer have a habit of applying changes without any way of turning them off.
Suffering this on Windows app 7.0.1 and onthe web site on various browsers.

How has this not been fixed yet? Getting really frustrated with these weird oversights by Deezer...

C’mon, Deezer, this issue needs to be fixed asap!

I wonder what’s taking so long for an ostensibly simple-to-implement change. Even a technical explanation detailing the reasoning for the original change (default to “Most played”) and the hurdles in at least reverting said change if not implementing a proper preference option would be better than radio silence.

This is really annoying to deal with when listening on my laptop, but at least the Android app doesn’t suffer from the same issue, so listening on my phone is still a good experience.
