Some years ago, there were some faint attempts by artists and music labels to sell 5.1 native mix albums (Not to be confused with concert recordings) on “Pure Audio” Blu-Ray, DVD, and Super Audio CD. Their efforts eventually collapsed, the amount of relevant artists involved in it can be counted on one hand (though with Bryan Adams and Elton John among them), and the concept never made their way to streaming services.

That’s where I feel Deezer can tap into a still kind-of small but very interested market of people who have their PCs or Chromecasts connected to surround receivers, or who simply have 4.0 or 5.1 AUX speakers for their PCs (I myself admit I am among them). This could potentially help serve as an incentive to music labels to make many more native surround mixes.

A very narrow selection of the already narrow set of existing surround albums also support 96KHz audio, which could also be worth looking into.
